Role PurposeThe Head – Technology & Design at Dastur Energy is responsible for establishing, leading, and scaling the organization’s engineering and design capabilities that support advanced decarbonization, clean energy transition, CCUS, gasification, renewable integration, hydrogen, industrial transformation, and low-carbon technology development. This role acts as the strategic technical authority, ensuring that design excellence, system integration, innovation, safety and commercial viability are embedded across proposals, studies, FEED, basic engineering, pilot implementations, and execution support.LocationNew Delhi / KolkataKey ResponsibilitiesA.Engineering Strategy, Standards & Governance ·Define and institutionalize engineering design standards, methods, templates, guidelines, and best practices. ·Lead technology evaluation and selection for decarbonization and clean-energy projects. ·Ensure simulation, modelling, and design tools reflect domain best-practice and modern engineering methods. ·Act as final technical authority for design deliverables, process packages, PFD/BFD reviews, and feasibility assessments.B.Delivery Excellence & Quality Assurance ·Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality, safety, schedule, and cost benchmarks. ·Lead structured design reviews, HAZOP/HAZID, model validations, and risk assessments. ·Provide escalation support to project teams for high-complexity or first-of-kind assignments. ·Support delivery units to ensure alignment of design intent throughout lifecycle.C.Capability Building & Talent Development ·Build and develop a multi-disciplinary, future-ready engineering design team, including succession planning. ·Coach and mentor engineers for domain mastery and cross-disciplinary exposure. ·Create reusable knowledge frameworks, design libraries, competency models, and certification paths. D.Innovation, IP & Research Alignment ·Collaborate with Innovation & Applied Research to validate technology concepts, pilots and scalable innovations. ·Evaluate opportunities for IP creation, proprietary modules, automation, and digital engineering tools. ·Drive internal technology research agenda aligned to organizational focus areas.E.Business Partnership & Stakeholder Management ·Engage in client discussions as senior technical authority and subject-matter expert. ·Work collaboratively with Consulting, Pre-Sales, Techno-Economics and Partner Management teams for solutioning. ·Provide technical direction during bid/no-bid decisioning and proposal development. ·Represent the organization in technical forums, conferences, industry panels, and academia collaborations.Key InterfacesInternal: CEO, Head – Techno-Economics, Head – Consulting & Pre-Sales, Head – Innovation & Applied R&D, Delivery Unit Leads External: Clients, EPC contractors, Technology Licensors, OEMs, Universities, Research bodiesRequired CompetenciesTechnical Competencies: Advanced expertise in engineering design, simulation, FEED/basic engineering, and decarbonization systems. Leadership Competencies: Strategic thinking, collaboration, stakeholder influence, coaching, and execution discipline.Qualification & Experience·Bachelor's degree in Chemical / Mechanical / Industrial / Energy Engineering (Master’s preferred). ·14–20+ years’ experience in engineering, technical leadership, and advanced design roles in the Energy sector preferably in the Green Energy space.. ·Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary engineering projects and teams.Success KPIs·Engineering rework %, audit scores, non-conformance levels ·On-time delivery %, schedule adherence deviations ·Skill uplift metrics, internal promotion rates, capability development ·Proprietary frameworks, tools, automation, IP filings ·Collaboration score and stakeholder satisfaction ·Client repeat business & appreciation metrics
