Visit learn more.Job Summary:The WSO2 Sales Engineering Team acts as trusted technical advisors to prospects and customers who engage with WSO2. Sales Engineers at WSO2 focus on various roles, including pre-sales engineering for prospects, technical ownership of customers, and subject matter expertise for architecture consultancies. As a Sales Engineering team member, you will act as the linchpin connecting customers, internal sales, research and development (R&D), and customer success, across all of WSO2’s products and solutions, including API management, integration, identity and access management, and our internal developer platform vision. You will engage with prospects from the outset, grasp both technical and business needs, architect the right solution, advocate and recommend the ideal product, translate the product into a tailored solution or specific use case, construct a proof of concept, facilitate the conversion of prospects into customers, and persistently foster and expand customer relationships.We encourage you to read this article to learn more about the importance of Sales Engineers today and their role in technology sales. At WSO2, we encompass all of the above under Sales Engineering.Responsibilities and Duties:- Design custom demos and proof of concepts (POCs) that align with customer business needs. Evaluate RFP technical feasibility. Contribute to RFP responses by outlining technical and business capabilities. - Map potential technologies to customers’ business and integration requirements. - Clearly communicate technical and business benefits in presentations. - Create high-quality solution designs that meet customer expectations. - Develop subject matter expertise in WSO2 products, architecture, industry verticals, and competitive offerings. Apply this knowledge to enhance your personal brand, advise customers, and share expertise with the team. - Provide feedback to teams on customer feature usage and alignment with design, implementation, and integration. Share architect expectations based on industry standards and developer/DevOps best practices. Raise and follow up on critical product issues and features. - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology usage, including but not limited to WSO2 products, evolution, and future predictions within relevant domains and areas of specialization. Actively participate in discussions regarding technology, product features, direction, company vision, and process improvements. - Lead technical aspects of project deliveries, collaborating closely with the delivery manager/PM. Take technical ownership, manage expectations, and communicate effectively with customers, the product team, service delivery personnel, and the internal team. - Develop estimates and detailed schedules for complex projects, collaborating with product specialists. - Communicate schedules clearly to customers and stakeholders, addressing assumptions, dependencies, and responsibilities. - Conduct paid deployment reviews for customers, reviewing the solution and deployment architecture. Recommend best practices for using WSO2 products, aligning with customer requirements and use cases. Produce architectural review (AR) documents. Follow up on pending/future items with the customer and account manager (AM). - Conduct technical workshops for customers, partners, and public users. Design workshop content tailored to diverse audiences, including CXOs, architects, developers, and DevOps engineers. Align content (slides, demos) with customer business problems and use cases. - Assume primary or secondary technical ownership. Lead post-sales expansions, architectural reviews, and customer engagements. Participate in account planning with AMs. Conduct workshops, webinars, and customer events. Follow up on all post-sales activities. Build strong customer relationships and become a trusted advisor. Manage multiple accounts and prospects of varying size and complexity. - Drive business and technical discussions with strategic accounts. - Lead customer escalations. Collaborate with the support team to resolve critical production issues and conduct root cause analysis. Ensure issue resolution and customer satisfaction. Identify and address underlying problems, developing and implementing solutions. - Lead and manage team members. Mentor new team members, ensuring role clarity and supporting their professional development. - Write high-quality articles, blogs, and content that position you as an expert and drive traffic to WSO2. Focus on enterprise and business architecture content for CXOs and enterprise architects. Propose innovative concepts and patterns. - Collaborate with marketing to deliver webinars, events, and public workshops. Design and lead sessions, ensuring market relevance. - Leverage past experience to enhance team processes, individual skills (through knowledge sharing), and company vision. Adapt and implement successful strategies from previous roles within the WSO2 culture. - Become an SME in a specific area, leveraging past experiences to improve WSO2. If no prior experience, develop expertise in a domain, subject matter, or industry vertical. - Lead technical discussions within the team, demonstrating strong WSO2 product knowledge and a broad understanding of related technologies. Continuously expand technical breadth and share knowledge with the team, WSO2, and the wider community through talks, blogs, and articles. - Lead and implement practices to enhance team productivity and quality. Initiate, collaborate, and lead tasks to improve team functions across the team, WSO2, and your specific pod/region. Measure the impact of initiatives and ensure their adoption and implementation into business-as-usual (BAU) operations. - Continuously learn and share new ideas, concepts, and technologies with WSO2 and the team. Expand learning beyond technology to encompass areas like architecture, leadership, and management.Requirements:- BSc in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent. - At least 8 to 10 years of solid industry experience, with at least 3 years as a Solution Architect or a similar role in Sales Engineering. - Experience in business, system architecture principles, architecture patterns, processes, and frameworks. - Exceptional client management and communication skills, ability to mentor team members, and negotiate technical decisions. - Ability to travel on short notice for short-term assignments.In addition, you should:- Be willing to learn MSA, SOA, EDA, enterprise middleware, and cloud computing, while actively participating in the entire process, from design to implementation. - Exhibit natural curiosity, an analytical mind, and a willingness to explore the unknown. - Have an affinity for new challenges, a self-starting attitude, and a willingness to work with a global team. - Be able to take ownership of complex technical problems and drive them to resolution individually as well as work effectively through escalations with the engineering team. - Possess an amicable personality and excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including sensitivity to the local cultures of WSO2’s global customer and employee base. - Have the ability (e.g., passport) to travel overseas.Benefits:We want every team member to feel happy, cared for, and energized at WSO2.
