Our backend systems operate at real scale, handling high traffic, real-time interactions, and rapid feature rollouts.Every engineering decision has visible user impact.About the RoleWe are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer (SDE III) to work on and help evolve critical backend systems, in close collaboration with the CTO and core engineering team.This is a high-impact engineering role. The systems you work on are production-critical and affect thousands of users. You will not be operating in isolation - architectural and technical decisions are made collaboratively, with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and correctness.Responsibilities- Design and evolve large-scale backend systems in collaboration with the CTO and core team - Own backend services from development through production and scaling, with team support - Contribute to decisions around performance, scalability, and reliability - Review code and contribute to improving overall engineering standards - Improve system observability, fault tolerance, and resilience - Work closely with founders, product, and infrastructure teams on technical planning and executionRequired Skills (Must Have)- Strong experience with Node.js and Express.js - Strong experience with TypeScript - Deep understanding of PostgreSQL, including performance and scaling - Proficiency with Git / GitHub - Redis, Websockets & WebRTC - Experience designing and maintaining scalable backend systems - Experience with caching strategies, async systems, and optimization - Ability to reason about backend systems under real-world production loadTechnology & Adaptability ExpectationsWhile parts of our stack involve real-time systems, modern web frameworks, and cloud infrastructure, prior experience with every specific tool is not required.What matters most at this level is:- Strong adaptability to new technologies and system patterns - Ability to understand unfamiliar codebases and production systems with guidance and context - Solid engineering fundamentals that translate across stacks - Thoughtful participation in technical discussions and decision-making - Experience with real-time systems or modern web frameworks is a plus, but being open to learning and forward-thinking in how systems are built is far more important.What We’re Looking For- Strong backend engineering experience - Good system design instincts and architectural thinking - Comfort contributing to decisions that have real user impact - Collaborative mindset - you grow with the team, not in isolation - Experience working in fast-moving, high-ownership environmentsWhy Join Us- Fully remote - work from anywhere in India - Flexible working hours - Unlimited paid time off (PTO) - Health insurance coverage - Competitive compensation - Opportunity to work on high-scale systems used by hundreds of thousands of gamersPS: We care about building things the right way, not burning people out.
