ROLE OVERVIEWThe ULD Controller is responsible for effective control, tracking, reconciliation, serviceability, and optimisation of Unit Load Devices (ULDs) to ensure operational continuity, cost control, regulatory compliance, and asset protection across the airline’s cargo and passenger network.This role ensures that the right ULD is available at the right place and time, while minimizing loss, damage, and demurrage.This role bridges operational control, maintenance standards, and digital cargo systems.C. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESULD Inventory & Control• Maintain real-time tracking and accounting of all ULDs (owned, leased, pooled).• Monitor ULD positions across stations, flights, warehouses, and off-line locations.• Ensure accurate ULD stock levels per station and network-wide.• Manage ULD loans, interline exchanges, and pool agreements.ULD Movement & Optimization• Plan and optimize ULD flows to support flight schedules and cargo demand.• Minimize empty repositioning and reduce imbalance across stations.• Coordinate timely return of surplus and repairable ULDs.• ULD Serviceability & Maintenance• Ensure ULDs are maintained in airworthy condition as per IATA ULD Regulations (ULDR) and airline standards.• Identify damaged or unserviceable ULDs and coordinate repair or disposal.• Liaise with ULD repair vendors and MROs for timely rectification.Stakeholder CoordinationWork closely with:• Cargo Operators• Load Masters & Centralized Load Control team/s.• Ground Handling Agents (GHAs)• Maintenance Service Providers, MROs• Finance & Procurement• Interline partners• Coordinate with airports, warehouses, and off-line agents for ULD recovery.D. DESIRED SKILL SETTechno-Functional SkillsStrong understanding of:• Understanding of standard pallets, containers, nets, straps, locks, and fittings• Knowledge of ULD dimensions, operational limits, handling protocols and overall management.Communication Skills• Strong documentation, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills• Curiosity-driven mindset with a focus on innovation and continuous improvementE. QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCEEducation• Bachelor’s degree in aviation, Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, or equivalent.• IATA ULD / Cargo Handling certification preferred.Experience• 3–8 years in airline cargo, ground handling, or equipment control roles.• Proven exposure to ULD management, cargo operations, or load control preferred• Experience in freighter and/or wide body aircraft operations preferred.
