Senior Engineer – Audit / Laboratory Department:Quality / Testing / Compliance Location:Solar Module Manufacturing Plant, Gujarat Exp: 5-6 YrsJob Purpose The Senior Engineer (Audit / Lab) is responsible for quality audits, laboratory testing, compliance verification, and certification support for solar PV modules. The role ensures that all products meet IEC, BIS, UL, and customer-specific standards, while maintaining accurate documentation and continuous improvement in testing and audit processes.Key Responsibilities Laboratory & Testing Operations •Conduct routine and advanced testing of solar PV modules and raw materials (cells, glass, EVA, backsheet, junction box, frames). •Perform and oversee tests such as: oFlash testing (IV curve, efficiency, power) oEL (Electroluminescence) testing oInsulation & Hi-Pot tests oMechanical load tests oThermal cycling, damp heat, humidity freeze •Ensure calibration and maintenance of lab equipment. •Analyze test results and prepare technical reports.Audit & Compliance •Plan and conduct internal quality audits across manufacturing processes. •Support external audits by certification bodies and customers. •Ensure compliance with IEC 61215, IEC 61730, BIS, UL, ISO 9001/14001 standards. •Track and close non-conformities (NCs) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA). •Maintain audit records and compliance documentation.Certification & Documentation •Coordinate with NABL / BIS / TUV / UL / Intertek labs for certification testing. •Prepare and review test plans, SOPs, FMEAs, control plans, and inspection reports. •Support product type testing, re-certification, and factory inspections. Process Improvement & Quality Control •Monitor process capability and yield trends. •Identify quality issues and root causes using tools like 8D, Fishbone, SPC. •Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance module reliability and performance. •Train junior engineers and technicians on lab procedures and audit requirements.Safety & Compliance •Ensure laboratory operations follow ESD, electrical safety, and environmental norms. •Maintain housekeeping and safety standards in lab areas.Key Skills & Competencies Technical Skills •Strong knowledge of solar PV module manufacturing processes. •Hands-on experience with PV module testing equipment. •Thorough understanding of international standards (IEC/BIS/UL). •Data analysis, documentation, and report writing skills.Behavioral Skills •Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset. •Good communication and coordination skills. •Ability to handle audits confidently and professionally. •Leadership and mentoring capability.
