In this role, you will design and build highly reliable, scalable, and secure backend systems while also contributing to frontend development for web-based applications. You will work closely with frontend engineers, AI engineers, product managers, and UX/UI designers to develop complex, high-performance platforms that serve as critical infrastructure for our products. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving deep backend challenges while maintaining a solid understanding of the full stack. Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs that power complex web applications and platform services. Architect and implement robust server-side logic, data models, and workflows to support high-throughput, low-latency use cases. Build and maintain well-structured RESTful APIs (and other API paradigms where applicable) for internal and external consumption. Work with databases and data stores (SQL and NoSQL) to design efficient schemas, optimise queries, and ensure data integrity. Collaborate with frontend engineers to integrate backend services seamlessly into user-facing applications. Ensure backend systems meet enterprise-grade standards for performance, scalability, reliability, and security. Implement authentication, authorisation, and access control mechanisms following best practices. Participate in system design discussions, contributing to architectural decisions and long-term technical strategy. Actively participate in code reviews, mentoring peers and promoting clean, maintainable, and well-documented code. Troubleshoot and debug complex issues across the stack, including production incidents, and drive root-cause analysis. Work within an agile development environment, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality features on schedule. Continuously evaluate and adopt new backend technologies, tools, and patterns to improve system robustness and developer productivity. Required Qualifications / Experience Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 6-7 years of professional experience as a Full-Stack Engineer or Backend Engineer, with a strong emphasis on backend development. Deep expertise in server-side development using Node.js (or similar runtimes), with a strong understanding of asynchronous and distributed systems. Extensive experience designing and building scalable, production-grade APIs. Strong hands-on experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar SQL/NoSQL systems. Solid understanding of backend architecture patterns, including modular monoliths, microservices, and event-driven systems. Experience with AWS cloud platform and building cloud-native services. Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes. Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and modern CI/CD pipelines. Good working knowledge of frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React) and the ability to contribute across the stack when needed. Strong understanding of security best practices, including API security, data protection, and secure system design. Desirable Skills / Experience Experience with high-availability, multi-tenant, or enterprise-scale systems. Familiarity with modern API design paradigms. Experience with serverless architectures and cloud-managed services. Knowledge of observability practices, including logging, monitoring, and distributed tracing. Experience with performance tuning, load testing, and capacity planning. Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and test strategies for backend systems. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and using tools such as JIRA or Trello. Work Environment This is a fully remote role based in India, with flexible working hours aligned with project needs and team collaboration.
