As a Commis I, you will play a crucial role in supporting our kitchen operations, focusing on the preparation and cooking of authentic tandoor dishes. Assist in the preparation of ingredients for tandoor dishes, including marinating meats and vegetables Operate and maintain the tandoor oven, ensuring proper temperature control and cooking techniques Prepare and cook various tandoor specialties, such as naan, kebabs, and tikkas Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and high-quality food production Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards Assist in inventory management and stock rotation of ingredients Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to minimize waste and maintain consistency Participate in kitchen cleaning and maintenance tasks as assigned QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; culinary school training preferred Food handler's certification Proficiency in tandoor cooking techniques and equipment Knowledge of North Indian cuisine, particularly tandoor dishes Understanding of Indian spices and ingredients Basic knife skills and food preparation techniques Familiarity with food safety and hygiene standards Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Good communication and teamwork abilities Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays Previous kitchen experience preferred, but not required for entry-level candidates
