Chief Programmer / Principal Engineer (AI Products)Location: Northeast India. North Bengal (preferred location due to project requirements)Experience: 12+ yearsRole OverviewWe are looking for a Chief Programmer who has personally built, shipped, and scaled AI-driven products—ideally an ex-founder or early engineering leader. This role is deeply hands-on and owns the end-to-end technology execution across product, platform, and AI systems.You will be responsible for architecting, coding, training models, scaling infrastructure, and mentoring engineers, while working closely with founders and product leadership.Key ResponsibilitiesProduct & ArchitectureOwn system architecture for a scalable B2C/B2B AI product (from MVP to production scale).Design high-availability, low-latency backend systems.Make core decisions on tech stack, data flow, and infra trade-offs.Hands-on EngineeringWrite production-grade code daily across:MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js)Python services (FastAPI / Flask)Build and optimise RESTful and event-driven APIs.Review and set engineering quality benchmarks (code, testing, observability).AI / LLM / DataLead LLM integration and customisation (OpenAI / open-source models).Hands-on experience with: Model training, fine-tuning, evaluationPrompt engineering & retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)GPU / inference optimisationWork closely with the product to align AI capabilities with real user value.Scale & InfrastructureDesign and manage CI/CD pipelines end-to-end.Experience scaling systems handling large user traffic or enterprise workloads.Own cloud infrastructure (AWS / GCP / Azure).Implement monitoring, logging, and cost optimisation.Leadership & OwnershipAct as the technical owner of the product.Mentor senior and mid-level engineers.Partner directly with founders on roadmap, feasibility, and execution.Build systems that outlive individuals.Must-Have Qualifications12+ years of professional engineering experience.Ex-founder / early startup engineer / principal engineer background.Proven record of individually contributing to a scalable B2C or B2B product.Deep hands-on expertise in:MERN StackPython (FastAPI / Flask)AI / LLM systemsCI/CD pipelinesStrong understanding of system design, scalability, and reliability.Based in Bangalore or willing to relocate.Good-to-HaveExperience building AI-first products from scratch.Exposure to multi-tenant SaaS architecture.Background in performance tuning, cost optimisation, and security.Experience working directly with customers or enterprise stakeholders.Share your CV
