Head of AI / AI Practice Lead (Ephicacy)Hybrid/Remote (with periodic travel to Ephicacy locations and client sites)Reports to CEO.Partners closely with Clinical Operations, Biostatistics/Statistical Programming, Data Management, Quality & Compliance, IT/Security, and Commercial.Experience 18+ years of experience in a CRO, life sciences, or clinical research operations.Position SummaryThe Head of AI will set up and lead Ephicacy’s AI Practice. The role will identify where AI can improve delivery, quality, and efficiency; build a small team and ways of working to test ideas quickly; and scale the best solutions into day-to-day operations and client offerings.Key ResponsibilitiesSet AI direction and prioritiesDefine Ephicacy’s AI plan and a clear 12–24 month roadmap.Create a practical process to collect ideas, choose priorities, and track benefitsCommunicate progress and decisions to leaders and delivery teams.Build and run the AI Innovation LabEstablish a repeatable approach to testing ideas: define the problem, build a quick prototype, evaluate results, and decide whether to scale.Work closely with business leaders to ensure AI efforts address real workflow pain points and measurable outcomes.Deliver solutions that can be used on a scaleLead delivery of AI-enabled tools and automation into real workflowsCoordinate with IT teams to deploy solutions reliably, support users, and maintain performance over time.Manage cost and vendor relationships for AI tools and platforms.Ensure responsible and controlled use of AIPut in place clear rules and checks before AI is used in delivery workAlign Ephicacy’s approach to recognized AI risk and management practicesPartner with Quality, Legal, and Compliance to ensure solutions are appropriate for regulated clinical research activities.Build capability across EphicacyHire and lead a small, high-impact teamCreate internal training and practical guidance so teams know when and how to use AI, and when not to.Required QualificationsSignificant experience leading AI or advanced analytics work, with a track record of delivering solutions that are used in production.Experience setting strategy, prioritizing a portfolio, and leading cross-functional delivery with IT and business teams.Strong stakeholder management and clear communication with executives and non-technical teams.Experience working in environments where quality, confidentiality, and risk controls matter (regulated industries preferred).Preferred QualificationsExperience in a CRO, life sciences, or clinical research operations.Experience establishing AI governance policies and oversight processes across an organization.
