If you’re ready to create meaningful change and build your future, CIBC India is where your ambition meets opportunity.What You’ll Be Doing (position summary):Risk Management is led by the SEVP and Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and is accountable on matters relating to the independent oversight of the management of risks inherent to the activities of CIBC, its subsidiaries and affiliates. These risks include but are not limited to ensuring that effective processes are in place for the identification, management, measurement, monitoring and control of operational, reputation and legal, regulatory compliance, market, credit, strategic, investment and liquidity risk, collectively “CIBC Risk”, incurred by CIBC’s retail and wholesale businesses, infrastructure and corporate governance groups. Reporting to the Senior Director, Operational Risk Management for Europe / APAC, the Director, Operational Risk Management for CIBC India is accountable for identifying, assessing, monitoring, communicating, and mitigating operational risks relevant to CIBC India. You will work closely with regional and global business leaders to ensure that all aspects of the operational risk management and control framework requirements are met. You will provide operational risk and control framework-related advice and effective challenge to business lines, proactively monitoring emerging risks and external events, overseeing control and deficiency management, and staying current on regulatory changes and industry best practices. Details on your work arrangement (including on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.How You’ll Succeed (responsibilities):Fulfilling the role of CIBC’s second line of defense in the management of operational risk by challenging the business lines’ inputs to and outputs from CIBC’s risk management, risk measurement and reporting systems and programs. The role covers all Operational Risk in India as it relates to GCC operations. This is a key role in the three lines of defense model, and it requires a deep understanding of the business as well as the ability to challenge senior employees of the Bank in a constructive manner. Providing ongoing oversight and effective challenge of CIBC’s operational risk exposure through the use of various risk identification and assessment tools, such as Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRAs), Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Incident Reporting, External Event Reviews, Scenario Analysis and Control / Deficiency Management. In addition to applying the tools, the role is also expected to provide input into refining and improving the tools as part of a continuous improvement process. Providing senior management with a regular reports detailing the outcomes / findings of these assessments and overall operational risk profile for CIBC India Collaborating with regional and corresponding global business units to ensure that operational risk and control policies, procedures and standards are relevant, up to date, and are communicated within the region, and to provide appropriate education and training, including facilitating / challenging the regional business assessments of operational risk and controls.Providing operational risk advice to business lines to enhance the management of operational risk, including advising on risk analysis and mitigation strategies to identify and mitigate product, business, and enterprise risk exposures as efficiently and effectively as possible and developing executive communications. pertaining to operational risk issues. This will include performing regular “deep dive” risk reviews on specific topics / areas within the region. Promote a strong ‘Operational Risk Culture,’ which includes working with senior management to promote acceptance and implementation of operational risk and control programs.Understanding regional and / or global risk appetite statements from an operational risk perspective and ensuring that the region stays within risk appetite or that breaches are promptly investigated / escalated.Staying current in relevant regional regulatory changes and industry best practices in operational risk management to ensure regional operational risk management activities remain compliant, effective, efficient, and aligned to peer financial institutions.Monitor and encourage timely remediation of regional business unit control deficiencies and risk items, KRI / RAS breaches, and other identified operational risk issues.Co-ordinate submission of risk related material for internal and external audit and regulatory examinations and support issue remediation required as a potential outcome.Work with Finance, the Region Head and global Risk Management in co-ordination of Risk Management budgets for the Risk Management India office.Maintain effective governance around Inter-Company Agreements (ICAs) and related Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in accordance with internal policy and regulatory requirement.Experience: 12+ years of experienceWho You Are (Skills / Qualifications):Must Have Skills:Post-secondary degree in business / finance / accounting or related field.12+ years relevant experience.Ability to co-ordinate multiple deliverables / projects .Strong relationship management skills and ability to influence and collaborate effectively with people across business units within the region and globally.Broad knowledge and experience with operational risk topics including regulatory compliance, privacy, third party, information security / cyber, data and transaction processing risks.Familiarity with regional and global regulatory requirements relevant to operational risk management..The ability to think laterally and introduce new controls and risk management techniques if enhancements to the regional risk governance framework are required.What CIBC India Offers:At CIBC India, your goals are a priority.
