Job Description

We are looking for Process Technologist - HFA/Butamer for our technology Services Team based in our Essar UK Services office based in Airoli. Dimensions:Th The role of process technologist is part of the Technology team, a team of Chemical Engineers at Stanlow Manufacturing Complex. The complex consists of a 1540 MT per day HFA unit. Technology support to Stanlow is split into 5 tech verticals, this process technologist - HFA role sits within the Tech 10 team reporting to Tech 10 vertical Manager, and directly support the production units and is responsible for both short and medium term front line support of:HF Alkylation unitButamer unit andDIBThis role supports a unit / group of units and influences many aspects of site profitability including maintaining margin; supporting (and identifying) margin growth and both variable and capital costs. The role provides technical assurance and so directly influences process safety.Principal Accountabilities:Regularly and rigorously monitor, assess and report units’ short through to long term performance (including catalysts) using the suite of toolsMantains the Unit Technical Proactive Monitoring document according to the relevant Work Instruction, and issues an associated monthly reportIdentify and escalate accordingly process related threats to production and safety such that timely and cost effective responses can be implementedComplete month end data including validation of data for legislative reporting purposesSupport unit operating teams in delivering production plans throughDefinition of operating limitsOptimisation Timely and fit for purpose technical guidanceInput to trainingReactive investigationProvision, review and challenge of LP constraintsTechnical development and approval of changes (using the site MOC process) including records updates.Provide input to larger / more technically complex projectsInitiate, develop, lead technical studies to improve the unit’s performance e.g. Margin BoostersProvide technical input to the procurement process including catalystsSupport the preparation and execution of turnarounds, in particular Process scope definition and optimisationThreat identification and investigationTEC inspections and reportsDocumentation – is the site owner for the unit’s; PEFs; Area Classification Drawings; Plot plans; COMAH process description and major accident hazards sections (including MAH scenarios), COMAH flow schemes; CEMIS models; Process Safeguarding Memoranda; ACM (variable table information); Design data and Process Guides.Provide process safety assurance, advice and participating in risk assessment programmes for site and progressing resulting actions.Support the site in achieving Goal Zero safety performance by participating in initiatives as per schedule; for example PSFOs, safe visits, safety standstills, look out.Support the site in complying with legislation such as COMAH; REACH; IED; EUETS etc.Core team member for key site processes with specific responsibilities within these such as RBI; PCDM; ESP (as outlined in specific process documentation)Product quality / customers – understand key specifications and the potential impact on finished product quality within and downstream of unit such that can support internal and external customers.Completes the Technical Evaluation of new / replacement catalysts according to the relevant Work InstructionJob Knowledge, Skills and Experience: BE in Chemical Engineering or equivalent qualifications More than 5 years experience as a chemical engineer directly supporting Alkylation, Isomerization unit operation Self-starter with good organisational, presentation and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to solve process-related problems and drive the implementation of defined solutions Knowledge of Simulation softwares like Aspen Plus / Hysis / Pertosim / HTRI Proven ability to work effectively with colleagues across organisational boundaries and within cross functional teams Willingness to develop towards Management of Change signatory status (‘Authorised Technologist’) and join site Duty Rota
