Location: Bangalore, India Start Date: Immediate About Zeno An unprecedented energy transition has begun. To meet 2040 net zero goals, over 2 billion electric two-wheelers (motorcycles) must be sold and $11 trillion in fuel consumption replaced. Zeno is building a tech platform to electrify this two-wheeler market, currently responsible for more than 4% of the world’s GHG emissions. Our mission is to accelerate the energy transition and democratize the benefits across Africa, India, and Latin America. With a focus on East Africa as a starting point, Zeno is building a new energy ecosystem with ground-up development of a fundamentally better electric motorcycle and associated battery swap network to drive a better experience for our customers. We are looking for audacious, creative, and committed people to join us on this important mission. You will be joining a bold team consisting of leading engineers, operators, and entrepreneurs hailing from companies that include Tesla, Apple, Google, SRAM, Ola Electric, Dott, LiveWire, Lucid, Bolt, Microsoft, and SafeBoda, among others. Zeno has raised capital from some of the world’s foremost mobility and climate investors, including Toyota Ventures and Lowercarbon Capital. The RoleWe are looking for a Mechanical Engineer Sheet Metal – Charging Systems to be the first point of contact for sheet metal design and architecture of our charging infrastructure. Your work will involve collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions that enhance the overall riding experience.Key Responsibilities:● Own sheet-metal design end-to-end for charger cabinets and sub-assemblies (press-brake, punching/laser, bending, hemming, fastening, welding/riveting), from concept through release.● Design plastics and composites: injection-molded parts and composite panels (e.g., GFRP, SMC) with appropriate draft, gating, ribs, bosses, and inserts.● Create production-ready 3D/2D models and detailed drawings (ASME Y14.5) with clear GD&T, tolerances, and callouts; run tolerance stack-ups for critical interfaces.● Select materials and finishes for strength, corrosion protection, thermal performance, EMI/EMC shielding, and outdoor durability (e.g., CRCA/SS/Al, powder coat, plating, gaskets, IP sealing).● Drive DFM/DFA and value engineering with suppliers to optimize cost, manufacturability, and yield without compromising quality or safety.● Prototype and validate: plan rapid prototyping, test/verify against requirements (fit, airflow/thermal, vibration, ingress, ergonomics), and document results.● Release and sustain: own BOM creation, revision control, ECR/ECOs, and PDM/PLM hygiene; maintain organized engineering records and design history files.● Cross-functional collaboration with internal teams and external vendors; support commissioning/bring-up and resolve build issues quickly.Required Skills & Qualifications:●4–7 years of design engineering experience in electro-mechanical/mechanical products, preferably enclosures for power electronics or similar.● B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Production/Automotive (or equivalent). Strong fundamentals in Mechanics/Strength of Materials are expected.● Expert in sheet-metal design and drawings (press-brake, punching/laser, bending; joints/fasteners; weld symbols; flat-pattern best practices).● Proficient in SOLIDWORKS for solid/surface modeling, sheet-metal, drafting; working knowledge of PDM/PLM workflows.● Plastics & composites: hands-on experience with injection molding and composite panel design (GFRP/SMC); awareness of tooling and process constraints.● GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance analysis proficiency.● Product development lifecycle: concept → detailed design → prototyping → testing → release; strong documentation discipline (BOMs, test reports).● Communication & ownership: clear written/verbal English, ability to present designs to technical and non-technical audiences, and drive decisions.● Global collaboration: comfortable working with domestic/international partners; flexibility for cross-time-zone meetings.Nice to have● Experience with FEA (linear static, modal, basic thermal/airflow) and DFMEA; ability to interpret results to guide design changes.● Familiarity with environmental and safety standards relevant to outdoor electrical equipment (e.g., IP/IK ratings, salt-spray, vibration).● Exposure to rapid prototyping (3D printing, soft-tooling) and pilot/production builds at suppliers.● Knowledge of costing and VE levers (nesting/blank utilization, bend minimization, part consolidation, standard hardware).
