Job Description Role Title: Engineer – AutomationDepartment: Project & EngineeringLocation: PuneRole Purpose: To independently manage and execute multiple automation projects while ensuring adherence to quality, cost, and delivery timelines. The role also involves commissioning activities and providing after-sales service support.Qualification: Diploma / Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or E&TC EngineeringExperience: 3 – 7 YearsPreferred Industry Exposure: Dairy, Food & BeveragesKey Responsibilities & KRAsAutomation Engineering & DesignDevelop process logic for PLC systems and prepare detailed electrical drawings.Prepare I/O lists and Bill of Materials (BOM) for control panels.Select PLCs, I/O cards, HMIs, VFDs, and field instruments as per project and customer requirements.Design PLC panels, PID panels, MCC panels, and system architecture.Develop HMI and SCADA screens based on approved P&IDs.Prepare AutoCAD drawings including GA drawings, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, and system layouts.Implement PID loop programming in PLC systems.Compliance & DocumentationDevelop alarm management, batch reports, and audit trails in compliance with 21 CFR Part 11.Execute I/O testing and prepare DQ, IQ, and OQ documentation.Testing, Commissioning & Site SupportCoordinate panel testing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and instrument calibration.Finalise and implement handshake signals with upstream and downstream equipment.Lead site installation and commissioning from both process and automation perspectives.Coordinate with the electrical team to ensure timely completion of site activities.Vendor & Stakeholder ManagementIdentify and finalise automation vendors and participate in technical discussions and negotiations.Provide online and on-site support to customers as required during execution and post-commissioning.Reporting & CoordinationEnsure regular and timely project status updates to the reporting manager.Support after-sales service activities as required.Knowledge & Skills RequiredPLC & SCADA platforms: Siemens, Allen-Bradley (AB)PLC programming, HMI development, SCADA configurationSoftware development, installation, commissioning, and troubleshootingStrong understanding of industrial automation systems in process industriesRole AccountabilityProgramming, software development, commissioning, and after-sales service support.
