With a strong presence in 40+ countries, Amar is backed by a highly skilled engineeringRole Overview:We are seeking an experienced Design Head to lead the company’s product and process equipment design function. This is the most critical engineering leadership role in the organization, with complete ownership of New Product Development (NPD) and the evolution of our product portfolio. This role requires deep expertise in mechanical design, pressure vessels, flow systems, and pilot-scale equipment, along with the leadership ability to manage a cross-functional design and drafting teamThis role is ideal for a deeply hands-on design leader—someone who doesn’t just optimize existing designs, but creates new systems from first principles, solves complex engineering problems, and thrives on challenges that do not yet have standard answers.Key Responsibilities:Lead and manage the entire design and drafting team, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of engineering drawings and 3D models.Be the person responsible for New Product development (NPD)Oversee the design and detailing of equipment like pressure reactors, Nutsche filters, flow systems, skid-mounted assemblies, and heat exchangers.Ensure compliance with international design standards and codes (e.g., ASME, DIN, IS, CE, ATEX where applicable).Review and approve mechanical drawings, P&IDs, GA drawings, and fabrication details.Collaborate with the sales, production, quality, and R&D teams to ensure design feasibility, manufacturability, and performance.Drive CAD/CAE optimization, BOM standardization, and design automation initiatives.Mentor the design team on best practices, new tools, and design methodologies.Support client interactions during technical discussions, design finalization, and customization reviews.Evaluate and implement design software upgrades and digital tools to improve productivity and innovation.Key Requirements:B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory); M.Tech preferred.12–20 years of experience in equipment design, preferably in process plant equipment or capital goods industry.Strong working knowledge of pressure vessels, rotating equipment, heat exchangers, and fluid systems.Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and other 3D/2D CAD tools is preferred but not mandatoryGood understanding of material selection, GD&T, stress analysis, and welding standards.Proven experience in leading and mentoring design teams.Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.What We Offer:A top-tier technical leadership role with real authority and ownership.Opportunity to define and build next-generation flow and process equipment, not just maintain legacy designs.Exposure to cutting-edge chemical engineering challenges, pilot plants, and scale-up projects.A culture that values engineering depth, innovation, and problem-solving over hierarchy.Strong alignment with the company’s global growth, R&D expansion, and technology leadership vision.
