As Arizona's exclusive low dew-point HVACDF system manufacturer, Air2o is committed to innovation and environmental sustainability.Role DescriptionThe Mechanical Designer will be responsible for leading the design and development of new and upgraded HVAC equipment, including prototype and production units. This role owns the creation and refinement of mechanical designs and diagrams, defines component-level specifications, and ensures seamless integration with electrical and control systems. The engineer provides technical direction and oversight to mechanical designers, driving optimized, manufacturable, and code-compliant solutions. Essential duties and responsibilities include:Develop and update equipment diagrams and mechanical designs for new products, product enhancements, and prototypes, including defining specifications for all major components.Collaborate closely with electrical and mechanical designers and engineers to ensure that product designs integrate effectively with controls, electrical systems, and other building services.Provide design leadership, guidance, and review for assigned mechanical designers and junior engineers to enable timely release of optimized designs.Establish procedures for testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment, ensuring they are clear, practical, and aligned with product requirements.Test, validate, and troubleshoot product designs to verify performance, reliability, and safety.Partner with engineering and operations to implement engineering change notices (ECNs) and drive continuous product improvement.Support production during prototype builds and initial releases to resolve design issues and ensure smooth product and feature launches.Coordinate with engineering, supply chain, and production to address part shortages, approve deviations, and design or oversee test fixtures and prototypes.Develop cost estimates for design features, including materials, labor, and equipment, and support cost-reduction initiatives.Maintain and update equipment configuration (ECAT) tables and perform testing for new product designs as required.Review product specifications and customer requirements, making clear design recommendations to meet performance, reliability, and cost targets.Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), translation documents, and other configuration data for new and revised designs.Prepare and maintain product documentation, including drawings, operating instructions, and related technical literature.Perform mechanical CAD modeling, drafting, and simulations to support design decisions and manufacturability.Support DFMEA, PFMEA, CFD, FEA, and seismic evaluations and testing activities as needed.Stay current with applicable design codes and regulations, ensuring compliance with relevant standards such as UL, CE, NEC, IBC, and NFPA.Maintain and enhance professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing technical publications, and participating in professional organizations.Travel as needed to support field issues, customer site visits, or product development activities at other facilities.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience including Solidworks, SolidEdge or equivalent softwareStrong mechanical engineering fundamentals and proven HVAC/mechanical design skills.Ability to lead projects from concept through release, including conceptual design, design reviews, and mentoring of junior design staff.Demonstrated creativity and innovation in applying new ideas, technologies, and methods to improve product performance and manufacturability.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly document and present technical information.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with sound engineering judgment.Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and other departments.Exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in parallel.Working knowledge of safety and design standards including, but not limited to, UL, CE, NEC, IBC, and NFPA.Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Communicates technical concepts clearly in both written and oral form.Builds and maintains effective working relationships across teams.Makes sound decisions using data-driven, analytical problem-solving approaches.Manages multiple tasks and priorities with strong organizational discipline.Performs effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, and sometimes high-pressure setting.Pay & Benefits$1080/monthInsurance stipend (health insurance, dental insurance)Education assistancePaid time off
