Job Purpose:The Wiring Harness Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, and production support of wiring harness systems for automotive and electric vehicle applications, ensuring compliance with functional, safety, quality, cost, and manufacturability requirements.Key Responsibilities:Wiring Harness Design & Development:•Design complete wiring harness architecture including schematics, routing, bundling, and installation.•Develop wiring harnesses for vehicle systems such as Battery, Charging Stations, Battery Dock, and vehicle interface modules.•Select appropriate wires, connectors, terminals, fuses, relays, clips, and protection components based on electrical and environmental requirements.•Ensure compliance with electrical load, voltage drop, derating, and thermal requirements.CAD & Documentation:•Create and maintain wiring schematics, harness assembly drawings, installation drawings, and BOMs.•Use CAD and PLM tools such as Creo Cabling, Creo Schematic, AutoCAD, and Windchill.•Prepare and maintain engineering documents including SOR, SOP, DFMEA inputs, installation guidelines, and ECNs.Cross-Functional Coordination:•Work closely with system engineering, mechanical design, manufacturing, quality, and sourcing teams.•Support supplier interactions, drawing clarifications, and technical reviews.•Participate in design reviews, DFMEA, and change management activities.Validation & Production Support:•Support prototype, pilots, and production builds.•Analyze and resolve wiring-related issues during testing, production, and field use.•Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for harness, connector, and terminal failures.Standards & Compliance:•Ensure designs comply with automotive standards, safety norms, and internal engineering guidelines.•Follow best practices for routing, clipping, protection, and serviceability.Experience & Skills:•3–5 years of experience in automotive or EV wiring harness design.Technical Skills:•Strong knowledge of electrical schematics and vehicle electrical architecture.•Hands-on experience with wiring harness CAD tools.•Understanding of automotive connectors, terminals, crimping standards, and manufacturing processes.•Knowledge of high-current and low-voltage electrical systems.Soft Skills:•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.•Good communication and documentation skills.•Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.•High attention to detail and ownership.Education:•BE / BTech in Electrical, Electronics, E&E.Preferred Qualifications:•Experience in EV, Battery, charging station.•Exposure to product industrialization and field failure analysis.Sun Mobility “We are committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace where every individual is respected, valued, and empowered to contribute.
