The role focuses on employability, industry partnerships, NSQF-aligned curriculum, placements, and entrepreneurship outcomes, in line with NEP 2020, NSDC, NCVET, and national/ state skilling priorities.Key Responsibilities Strategy & LeadershipDesign and implement a comprehensive skill development strategy aligned with institutional objectivesLead multi-disciplinary teams delivering skill-based degree, diploma, and certificate programsEstablish outcome-based Key Performance Indicator (KPIs) focused on industrial training, apprenticeships, entrepreneurship and placements Industry & Employer EngagementBuild and manage strategic partnerships with industries, MSMEs, startups, and sector skill councilsFacilitate co-owned skill labs, Centres of Excellence, and industry-sponsored programsAlign curriculum with current and future workforce needs Academic & Curriculum DevelopmentEnsure programs are aligned with NSQF levels, NCVET guidelines, and NEP 2020Integrate work-integrated learning, apprenticeships, on-the-job training, and live industry projectsOversee faculty upskilling and industry immersion programs Placements & EmployabilityDrive placement-linked training models and employer-validated assessmentsStrengthen apprenticeship, internship, and job-placement pipelinesTrack and report measurable student outcomes Government & Funding LiaisonLiaise with State & Central Government bodies, Skill Development Missions, NSDC, and funding agenciesSupport implementation of government schemes (PMKVY, NAPS, NATS, state skill initiatives)Ensure compliance, reporting, and audit readiness Eligibility Criteria EducationPostgraduate degree in Engineering/Management/ Education/ Social Sciences, or related fieldsDoctorate preferred (PhD) but not mandatory for candidates with strong industry leadership experience Experience15+ years of experience in skill development, vocational education, higher education, or workforce developmentMinimum 5 years in a senior leadership role (Director / Head / Mission Leader)Proven experience in industry partnerships, large-scale skilling programs, and placements Key Competencies & SkillsDeep understanding of India’s skill ecosystem (NSQF, NSDC, NCVET, SSCs)Strong industry network and employer engagement capabilityStrategic planning and execution excellenceLeadership, stakeholder management, and team-building skillsData-driven decision making and outcome trackingExcellent communication and policy-level coordination skills Desirable AttributesExperience working with state or national skill development missionsExposure to university-industry integration modelsPassion for youth employability, entrepreneurship, and inclusive growthWillingness to travel and engage across industry clusters CompensationCompetitive and commensurate with experiencePerformance-linked incentives tied to placements
