As a Staff Engineer you will help shape how AI is applied responsibly and pragmatically across the platform and have the following responsibilitiesDesign and integrate AI-assisted features into workflow and platform services, such as:Workflow and rules inference from structured and semi-structured inputsIntelligent routing, classification, and recommendations within workflowsAI-assisted validation, schema evolution, and decision supportPartner with platform and security teams to ensure safe, explainable, and compliant AI usage.Define architectural patterns for:Calling LLMs or AI services from long-running workflowsHandling retries, fallbacks, and determinism in AI-driven stepsVersioning and auditing AI-influenced decisionsEvaluate build vs buy options for AI services (managed cloud services vs internal capabilities)Nice-to-HaveExperience with Camunda, Temporal, or similar BPMN-based systemsExperience building low-code / metadata-driven platformsBackground in financial services or regulated environmentsExperience designing workflowsExposure to rules engines (Drools or equivalent)How is this role Unique?Greenfield platform with real enterprise scaleHigh architectural ownership and influenceOpportunity to define CBA’s long-term workflow and orchestration strategyEssential Skills10+ years of experience designing, architecting and developing scalable, enterprise platforms and applicationsProficient in the following AWS services with hands on experience: EC2, Lambda, DDB and S3Proficient in at least one of the 2 tech stacks: TypeScript/Node.js or C#Hands-on engineering manager that can lead software engineers in building cloud scalable platformsExperience designing APIs and service contractsFamiliarity with event-driven architecturesHands-on experience with CI/CD and IaC pipelinesDistributed systems and MicroservicesExposure to AWS services like Kinesis, Firehose, Cloud watch, Aurora, Step Functions, CDK, Cloud FormationEducation Qualifications:A degree in Engineering / Computer Science or a related discipline
