Role OverviewWe are looking to hire an analyst to support deep-dive white papers and thematic research focused on India’s strategic autonomy across manufacturing, supply chains, and critical industries.The role sits at the intersection of industrial economics, trade, policy analysis, and industry structure, and involves studying how countries such as China, Vietnam, South East Asia, the US, and the EU have built globally competitive industrial ecosystems—and what lessons apply to India.This is not a client-facing consulting role. The emphasis is on analytical depth, independent thinking, and high-quality written output.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct sector-level research across strategic autonomy themes (manufacturing, industrial policy, supply chains, critical technologies, etc.)Map market size (TAM/SAM), growth drivers, and structural trends across selected segmentsIdentify key global and Indian companies and analyse industry structureAnalyse profit pools and value chain economics (where value is created and captured)Work with import–export and trade data (HS codes, DGFT, UN Comtrade, ITC Trademap, WITS, etc.)Study global benchmarks and policy models (China, SEA, Vietnam, US, EU) and extract implications for IndiaContribute to white papers, investment memos, and thematic research notes. Expect it to be published and circulated to key influential decision makers in these segments.Present findings in clear written narratives, charts, and tablesIdeal Candidate ProfileUndergraduate degree in Economics / Public Policy / Commerce / Engineering + Economics1–5 years of experience in:1) Consulting knowledge / research / capability teams (BCG Knowledge, Bain Capability Network, McKinsey GCO, EY-Parthenon, Deloitte Monitor, etc.), or2) Policy research institutions / think tanks (e.g., Brookings India, ORF, Carnegie India,ICRIER, RIS, NITI Aayog research teams)Strong comfort with secondary research, industry benchmarking, and data synthesisDemonstrated ability to write clearly and structure complex ideasInterest in industrial policy, manufacturing competitiveness, and long-term national strategyWhat We Are Specifically Looking ForAbility to go beyond data to form a point of viewComfort working with trade data, tariffs, localisation policies, and supply-chain economicsStrong written communication (long-form memos and white papers, not just slides)Intellectual curiosity and first principles thinkingWhat This Role Is NotNot a client delivery or project management roleNot a pure financial modelling or execution roleNot a rapid-fire consulting staffing modelHiring ProcessShortlisted candidates will complete a 48–72 hour take-home assignment involving:A selected strategic autonomy segmentMarket sizing, value chain and profit pool analysisA trade flow snapshot using public dataA short-written memo articulating insights and implications
