Job Overview:We are seeking a visionary and technically accomplished Head – New Product Development & Luxury Packaging to define and elevate the packaging language of our premium and luxury alcobev portfolio. This role sits at the intersection of luxury design, material science and product engineering, with full ownership of packaging-led NPD—from concept ideation to flawless market execution. The ideal candidate brings a deep sensitivity to luxury aesthetics, mastery over packaging materials and specifications and the ability to translate brand storytelling into iconic, collectible packaging. Key Responsibilities New Product Development (NPD) – Premium & Limited Editions:• Lead packaging development for new luxury launches, aged variants, limited editions, gift packs and collaborations. • Partner closely with liquid development, marketing and leadership teams to co create packaging narratives aligned with product story and price architecture. • Own the end-to-end NPD lifecycle: concept sketches, materials exploration, mock-ups, prototypes, pilot runs and final commercialization. Luxury Packaging Vision & Brand Stewardship • Define and own the luxury packaging DNA across brands, ensuring consistency, distinction and long-term brand equity. • Translate brand heritage, craftsmanship and provenance into refined, tactile and visually arresting packaging systems. • Set benchmarks for premium cues—weight, balance, finishes, tactility, typography and unboxing experience. Technical Excellence & Material Mastery • Drive selection and approval of luxury packaging materials including premium glass, bespoke closures, natural materials, specialty papers, foils, inks, lacquers and decorative elements. • Develop and sign off on detailed technical specifications, drawings, tolerances, BOMs and artwork guidelines. • Ensure mastery over: o Glass manufacturing & decoration (embossing, engraving, coatings, gradients) o Labelling technologies (wet glue, pressure-sensitive, shrink sleeves)• Printing & finishing techniques (hot foil, cold foil, emboss/deboss, UV, texture finishes) • Ensure designs are technically robust, line-compatible and scalable without dilution of luxury intent. Manufacturability, Cost & Value Engineering • Balance luxury expression with operational feasibility, ensuring packaging performs seamlessly on production lines. • Lead cost optimization and value engineering while protecting perceived value and premium pricing power. • Oversee tooling, moulds, die-cuts and development timelines to ensure flawless execution. Vendor Ecosystem & Craft Partnerships • Curate and manage a network of best-in-class global and domestic suppliers for glass, closures, printing and specialty packaging. • Drive supplier innovation, exclusivity and quality excellence through structured briefs, audits and long-term partnerships. • Lead vendor negotiations and sampling cycles for limited-edition and high-value packs. Regulatory, Quality & Global Readiness • Ensure packaging complies with alcobev regulations, statutory labelling norms, export and duty-free requirements. • Work closely with QA and regulatory teams to ensure luxury packaging meets stringent quality and performance standards across markets. Sustainability in Luxury • Champion responsible luxury packaging, integrating sustainability through lightweighting, recyclability and conscious material choices—without compromising premium aesthetics. Leadership & Governance • Build and lead a high-calibre luxury packaging design and development team. • Establish best-practice SOPs, approval gates and quality benchmarks for premium NPD projects. • Mentor teams to think beyond packaging as a container—towards packaging as a brand asset and collectible. Qualifications Education:• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial / Product Design, Graphic Design, or a related discipline. Experience • 7–10+ years of experience in premium or luxury packaging design & development. • Minimum 3+ years in a leadership role, preferably within alcobev, luxury FMCG, or high-end consumer brands. • Strong exposure to single malts, wines & spirits, limited editions, or export focused portfolios.
