Job Description

About Turing:Based in San Francisco, California, Turing is the world’s leading research accelerator for frontier AI labs and a trusted partner for global enterprises deploying advanced AI systems.Turing supports customers in two ways: first, by accelerating frontier research with high-quality data, advanced training pipelines, plus top AI researchers who specialize in coding, reasoning, STEM, multilinguality, multimodality, and agents; and second, by applying that expertise to help enterprises transform AI from proof of concept into proprietary intelligence with systems that perform reliably, deliver measurable impact, and drive lasting results on the P&LAbout the role:You are a mathematical Jyotishi who excels at the computational backbone of astrology — calculating planetary longitudes from first principles, deriving Lagna degrees, computing Dasha balances, constructing Ashtakavarga tables, and performing Ashtakoot (36-point Guna) matching calculations. Your focus is on creating problems with precise, verifiable numerical answers where the Chain-of-Thought shows every arithmetic step.Key Responsibilities:Create 15-25 calculation-heavy evaluation problems per month with exact numerical ground truth answersDesign problems covering: Nirayana longitude computation from Sayana (applying Ayanamsa), Lagna (Ascendant) degree calculation for given birth data, Vimshottari and Ashtottari Dasha balance computation, Ashtakavarga Bindu table construction (both Bhinnashtakavarga and Sarvashtakavarga), 36-point Guna Milan (Ashtakoot matching) calculation for given pairs, Shadbala computation for individual planetsProvide step-by-step mathematical derivations in CoT (showing formulas, intermediate values, and final answers)Create problems at varying difficulty: simple single-formula application (Easy), multi-step chained calculations (Medium), and complex multi-system computations with edge cases (Hard)Verify all numerical answers against at least two independent Jyotish software toolsDocument any assumptions (e.g., Ayanamsa value used, year length convention) explicitlyRequired Qualifications:Formal training in Ganita Jyotish (mathematical astrology) or Siddhantic astronomyAbility to compute planetary longitudes using Surya Siddhanta or modern ephemeris methodsMastery of Ashtakavarga computation (full 8-planet contribution matrix)Proficiency in Ashtakoot Guna Milan scoring (all 8 Kootas: Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot, Nadi) including exception rules (Nadi Dosha exemptions, Bhakoot Dosha cancellations)Strong numerical accuracy — must be comfortable with degree-minute-second arithmetic, modular arithmetic for sign boundaries, and time-zone conversionsMinimum 3 years of computational Jyotish practice or teachingPreferred / Nice-to-Have:Background in Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering alongside Jyotish trainingExperience with Krishnamurti Ayanamsa vs Lahiri Ayanamsa computationsFamiliarity with astronomical coordinate systems (ecliptic, equatorial, horizon)Teaching or examination-setting experience in Jyotish mathematicsTools & Technologies:Jagannatha Hora, Parashara Light, or equivalent Jyotish calculation softwareSpreadsheet tools (Excel/Google Sheets) for batch verificationAfter applying, you will receive an email with a login link.
