Job Title: Assistant Manager - EngineeringLocation: DelhiReports to: HOD – Engineering JOB DescriptionThe Assistant Manager - Engineering is responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of all building facilities, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for guests and team. This critical role involves leading the engineering department, managing all technical aspects of the property, and ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. The individual plays a vital role in maintaining the Design District’s luxurious ambiance and operational integrityKey Responsibilities: Facility Management & Maintenance: • Reporting into the Senior Manager – Engineering, this role assists to oversee all engineering and maintenance operations: Including electrical, plumbing, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), mechanical systems, and building fabric. • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program: To ensure the optimal performance and longevity of all engineering & technical & kitchen equipment and systems. • Manage and supervise all repairs and maintenance activities: Ensuring timely and efficient completion while minimizing disruption to operations and guest comfort. • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, equipment inventory, and energy consumption. • Ensure all equipment and systems are operating efficiently and cost-effectively. • Develop and implement energy management programs: To reduce energy consumption and promote sustainability. • Manage and maintain the building's fire safety systems and emergency procedures. Team Leadership & Management: • Work closely with the HOD to lead, manage, and motivate the engineering department team: Including engineers, technicians, and other maintenance staff. • Recruit, train, and develop engineering staff: Ensuring they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively. • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback. • Develop and manage staff schedules effectively: Ensuring adequate coverage for all operational needs. • Foster a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement within the department. • Conduct regular departmental meetings and briefings. Safety & Compliance: • Ensure adherence to all local, national, and international safety regulations and codes. • Implement and monitor safety procedures and protocols throughout the Design District. • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits. • Ensure all necessary permits and licenses are up-to-date. • Manage and respond to emergency situations effectively. Budgeting & Financial Management: • Develop and manage the engineering department budget: Controlling expenses and ensuring cost-effective operations. • Monitor and analyze departmental expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities. • Prepare and present regular reports on engineering activities and performance. • Manage and negotiate contracts with external vendors and contractors. Project Management & Coordination: • Manage and oversee engineering-related projects: Including renovations, upgrades, and new installations. • Coordinate with other departments: Such as Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage, to ensure smooth operations and address any technical issues. • Liaise with external consultants and contractors as required. Qualifications & Skills: • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, or a related field). • Minimum of (4-5) years of progressive experience in engineering and maintenance within luxury hotels or similar hospitality environments in India. • Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. • Proven experience in managing and leading an engineering team. • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. • Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures. • Experience in project management and budget control. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Proficiency in relevant computer applications and facility management software. • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Knowledge of energy management and sustainability practices.
