Job Description

JOB PURPOSEHead manufacturing engineering operations for the assigned cluster; Ensure smooth implementation of process changes for ME improvement, ensure appropriate design and manufacturing of tools and fixtures to minimize downtime and alignment with process and product drawings, and layout and process improvement for regular ECN/ PCRN at plants within the cluster. The role spans creating a culture of continuous improvement and ensures sustained contribution to bottom line.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIESProcess Development & Optimization Develop, improve, and standardize manufacturing processes across multiple production lines or plants Implement lean manufacturing, TPM / TPS, and other continuous improvement methodologies. Analyze production data and recommend process improvements to reduce waste and enhance efficiency. Equipment & Automation Design and implement automation solutions to streamline manufacturing operations. Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure proper functioning and upkeep of machinery. Lead troubleshooting efforts for production equipment and ensure minimal downtime. Quality & Compliance Ensure manufacturing processes meet quality and regulatory requirements. Work closely with the quality assurance team to address defects and non-conformities. Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions. Project Management Manage engineering projects, from concept to implementation, within budget and timelines. Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams for equipment procurement and installation. Monitor project progress and provide status updates to stakeholders. Support NPD team and monitor NPD programs performance for Launch+ 90 days Governance of productivity norms and keeping records of the new programs documents handed over by the NPD team to production Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support Work closely with Tech Center, production, NPD ME and supply chain teams to ensure smooth manufacturing operations. Train and support production teams in implementing new processes and technologies. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production issues. Annual Operational Capex Planning Review Annual Capex plan from all plants based on Improvement projects, Capacity sustenance Review ad-hoc capex during the year for justification with the user dept and recommend or reject them according to the merit. In-house Manufacturing Capacity: Participate in Annual budgeting exercise to lead and define Manning Deployment norms post Cycle time study Review & Approve Plant-wise and product-wise Capacity utilization and layout/ process improvement plan as per guidelines set by central team Review space Planning for the year and next year for catering to business expansion Governance of Serial Life ECN/ PCRN across plants For Sales indent spikes, undertake root cause analysis with BD & PM, determine if the spikes are temporary/ permanent and recommend alternatives for meeting the sales trends and production objectives smoothly; Make adjustments to capacity planning, capex approvals, volume fluctuations in line with evolving sales plans People Leadership and Team Development Build a strong leadership pipeline by mentoring and developing plant and function heads, by undertaking regular performance discussions, and providing coaching and mentoring support Assess the performance of direct reports and provide them with developmental feedback; leverage performance data to develop a successor for the role Drive organizational capability development through structured training and upskilling initiatives Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all plants Compliance and Risk Management Ensure adherence to customer, Varrocs quality system, statutory and regulatory requirements related to IATF and health, safety, and environmental standards as applicable for the function Uphold high standards of ethics in adherence to SHIPs philosophy at all stages. Conduct regular audits and compliance checks to mitigate operational risksQUALIFICATIONMinimum Qualification required: BE / B.Tech (Full-time) MBA / PG in Operations / SCM will be an added advantageWORK EXPERIENCEMinimum 12-15 years of experience Strong experience in Automotive Manufacturing engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Continuous improvement Working knowledge of Lean practices & automation projects Experience of varied manufacturing processes across automotive Lighting / Electrical / Electronic, Polymer / Plastic products (PCB Assembly, Injection Molding, Painting, Buffing, Surface Treatment etc depending on the position applied for)OTHER SKILLS Leadership and team management capabilities Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Effective communication and negotiation abilitiesRELOCATION-Out Station candidateswill have to relocate toPune (Ranjangaon) / Pune (Chakan) / Aurangabad (Maharashtra)and will be eligible to avail benefits of theRelocation Policy.This is a6days / week job roleand the incumbent in this role will have to work from theManufacturing Cluster for 6 days in a week
