Job Description

About Multiplier Multiplier is building the world’s leading Global Human Platform — enabling companies to hire, onboard, manage, and pay talent across 150+ countries. From global payroll and compliance to benefits and financial workflows, our platform simplifies complex international employment infrastructure so businesses can scale without borders. As we embed dedicated domain expertise across five tribes (Core Payroll, Experience, FinX, Foundations, Benefits), the Principal Product Designer / Tribe Lead defines how design scales within a pillar. This is where design moves from strong execution to strategic leverage. Role Purpose As a Principal Product Designer / Tribe Lead, you define pillar-level experience direction and raise the quality bar across squads. You operate as a player–coach: shaping long-term experience strategy, influencing roadmap decisions, setting standards for craft, and mentoring designers — while remaining hands-on in high-impact initiatives. You are accountable for coherence, clarity, and experience ambition across your pillar. This role bridges product execution and strategic design leadership. What You’ll Do 1. Define Insight & Discovery Strategy Define discovery strategy for your pillar. Ensure highest-risk assumptions are systematically de-risked. Coach teams on integrating behavioural, attitudinal, and data signals. Influence roadmap investment decisions through structured insight framing. Embed discovery rigor into planning cycles. You ensure we consistently design the right thing at pillar level. 2. Shape Pillar-Level Vision & Strategy Define bold, insight-backed 1–2 year pillar-level experience direction. Identify breakthrough opportunities within your domain. Create alignment across multiple squads and stakeholders. Define sequencing logic for major pillar initiatives. Translate ambition into coherent, staged execution plans. You elevate design from feature thinking to pillar architecture. 3. Set the Quality Bar in Execution Lead complex cross-squad initiatives with strategic clarity. Set quality standards for pillar-level experiences. Define clear experience principles guiding decisions. Drive high-quality cross-functional trade-offs. Proactively mitigate cross-surface and system risks. Ensure continuous improvement loops are embedded. You ensure we design the thing right — at scale. 4. Evolve Systems & Craft Standards Drive system evolution within your pillar. Ensure reusable patterns scale across squads. Standardise critique and quality rituals. Raise hiring bar and define craft expectations. Coach designers on problem framing and systems thinking. You build durable capability — not just deliverables. What Success Looks Like You are successful in this role if you: Define clear, compelling pillar-level experience direction. Influence roadmap decisions beyond your immediate squad. Raise the craft bar across multiple teams. Reduce fragmentation and increase system coherence. Anticipate and mitigate systemic experience risks. Develop designers into stronger strategic thinkers. Leave your pillar more aligned, more ambitious, and more scalable than before. Scope & Ownership Own 1–2 year experience direction for a pillar. Influence multi-squad roadmap planning. Lead cross-squad initiatives. Directly manage and develop designers (player–coach model). Raise critique and quality standards across squads. Contribute to hiring and talent calibration. Your influence extends beyond projects to pillar-level architecture. What We Value Strategic clarity over incremental noise. Systems over isolated solutions. Insight-backed ambition. Direct, respectful challenge. Quality as a non-negotiable. We believe design becomes a multiplier when it defines direction — not just execution Who You Are 8–12+ years designing complex digital products. Proven ability to define multi-quarter experience strategy. Experienced leading cross-squad initiatives. Strong systems thinker who anticipates complexity. Confident influencing senior product and engineering leaders. Comfortable coaching designers while staying close to craft. Motivated to build durable design capability within a scaling organisation. Multiplier Values in Action At Multiplier, we believe: Human experiences matter— especially in high-trust payroll and compliance workflows. Clarity beats cleverness— particularly at scale. People grow people— strong leaders elevate the system around them. This role embodies all three — defining ambition, driving quality, and building capability. Why This Role Matters Now Multiplier is entering a stage where pillar-level coherence determines our long-term differentiation. As a Principal Product Designer / Tribe Lead, you won’t just shape screens — you will shape how an entire domain of the platform evolves. If you want to move from owning areas to defining pillars — this is the seat.
