The Senior Architect plays a critical role in supporting the design and execution of architectural projects under the guidance of the Lead Architect. This position requires expertise in architectural design, technical detailing, and project management to ensure high-quality project delivery. The Senior Architect collaborates with project teams, coordinates with external stakeholders, and provides mentorship to junior architects to maintain the firm's standards of excellence. 11.2 Authority o Translate Lead Architect design direction into detailed technical deliverables and ensure coherence across drawings, specifications and models. o Produce and approve detailed construction drawings, sections, schedules and specifications for their scope prior to Lead Architect review. o Coordinate day to day technical integration with structural, MEP and specialist consultants; resolve routine clashes and escalate unresolved issues. o Implement and maintain BIM/CAD standards for assigned packages; manage model integrity, version control and issue latest revisions to the team. o Conduct constructability reviews and recommend practical detailing or sequencing adjustments to improve buildability and reduce risk. o Perform routine design QA checks, sign off compliance for task level deliverables, and log technical non conformances for corrective action. o Prepare and submit technical inputs for client design reviews and respond to client clarifications on detailed design matters within delegated limits. o Generate as built markups and ensure accurate record drawings and technical documentation are maintained for handover. o Verify material sample submittals and mockups for acceptance within specification; flag and document non conforming materials for replacement. o Produce detailed quantity take offs and technical cost inputs to support progress measurement, valuations and variation proposals. o Lead and supervise junior architects and technicians: review drawings, provide technical guidance, and ensure adherence to office standards. o Oversee routine on site clarification visits and minor design adjustments; issue site instruction drawings and follow up to close out. o Compile and file technical test and commissioning records related to the design scope; support handover packs with organised technical evidence. o Identify task level risks and propose mitigations; implement pre authorised actions and escalate material, safety or regulatory risks to the Lead Architect. o Mentor colleagues on detailing best practices, firm standards and constructive problem solving; contribute to team learning and template improvements. o Recommend small scale process improvements or detailing efficiencies and pilot changes under the Lead Architect’s approval. o Maintain HSE awareness in design and site activities; stop unsafe technical methods and report incidents immediately through the chain of command. o Keep all technical approvals to task and package level; require Lead Architect sign off for contract changes, commercial commitments, procurements, or safety critical design modifications. 11.3 Responsibilities Design Development: o Assist the Lead Architect in conceptualizing and developing architectural designs. o Create detailed drawings, models, and documentation for project execution. o Ensure that designs align with client requirements, aesthetic goals, and technical specifications. Technical Detailing: o Prepare technical details and construction documents that adhere to regulatory standards. o Conduct thorough checks to ensure accuracy, compliance, and constructability. Project Coordination: o Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of design inputs. o Manage and monitor project timelines, deliverables, and resources to meet deadlines. Team Mentorship: o Provide guidance and support to junior architects and designers in the team. o Share knowledge on design techniques, software, and industry best practices. Quality Assurance: o Review and refine design outputs to meet the firm’s quality standards. o Ensure compliance with local building codes, regulations, and sustainability guidelines. Client Interaction: o Support the Lead Architect in presenting designs and updates to clients. o Assist in incorporating client feedback into the design process to achieve satisfaction. o 11.4 Skills Advanced proficiency in architectural design and detailing. Strong technical skills, including expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and other industry-standard software. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration and client interaction. Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively. Keen attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards. 11.5 Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or a related field. Professional licensure as an Architect is preferred. Certifications in advanced design tools or sustainability practices are an advantage. 11.6 Experience Minimum 5-8 years of experience in architectural design and project execution. Proven ability to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget. Experience in mentoring junior team members and working collaboratively within a team.
