To know more about us, please visitMarriott Tech Accelerator careers page.Senior Quality Engineer II – SDET Web Position Summary: TheSenior Quality Engineer II (SDET – Web)is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of Marriott’s global digital web platforms through the design and implementation of scalable, maintainable automated testing solutions. This role partners closely with product, design, and engineering teams to validate complex front?end browser experiences and API integrations across a large scale, multi scale web ecosystem. The engineer plays a key role in advancing quality engineering practices by building robust UI and API automation, integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines, and driving a shift left quality mindset across teams. This is ahand on senior individual contributor rolerequiring strong technical depth, collaboration skills, and a passion for modern test automation.Key Responsibilities: Design, build, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for web UI and API testing using modern tools and best practices. Develop and maintain automated browser tests for large scale web and mobile web applications, including cross browser and cross device coverage. Create, execute, and maintain automated REST and GraphQL API test suites, including functional, contract, and schema validation. Integrate UI and API test suites into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and high-quality releases. Partner with developers, product owners, and QE leads to ensure testability, clear acceptance criteria, and comprehensive quality coverage. Perform root cause analysis on defects and collaborate with engineering teams to validate fixes. Implement regression, visual validation, and accessibility testing to reduce manual testing effort and improve coverage. Drive shift left quality engineering practices and provided technical guidance and mentoring to other QE and SDET team members. Improve automation reporting, test data management, and environment readiness. Own automation quality for one or more major web domains or platforms. Contribute to Quality Engineering Center of Excellence (COE) standards, reusable frameworks, and shared testing accelerators.Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. 6+ years of experience in software quality engineering with a strong focus onweb and API automation .Hands on experience with modern test automation frameworks and tools, including: Selenium WebDriver with Java and TestNG or JUnit Playwright with JavaScript or TypeScript BrowserStack or similar cloud based cross browser testing platforms REST API testing tools such as Postman, REST Assured, Ready API or equivalent GraphQL API testing, including queries, mutations, and schema validation Strong programming skills in Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, DOM, browser behavior, and developer tools. Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Harness, or equivalent. Proven ability to design and execute complex testing strategies beyond basic functional testing. Strong debugging, problem solving, and analytical skills. Experience working in fast paced Agile/Scrum environments. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with API mocking and service virtualization tools (e.g., Wire Mock, MSW). Experience with containerized or distributed test execution environments (Docker, Kubernetes). Experience testing microservices and distributed systems. Experience with AI assisted development or testing tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to improve automation development productivity. Experience testing AI enabled web or API based applications is a plus.
