SAFETY OFFICER ( 5 YEARS ALONE CAN APPLY) Major Task Responsibilities Compliance and Legal Adherence Ensure compliance with the TN Factories Rules, Factories Act 1948, and other relevant statutory regulations. Regularly update and maintain safety documentation, including risk assessments, incident reports, and safety audits. Ensure workers are not exposed to severe occupational health and safety hazards. Safety Management Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs to promote a safe working environment and to minimize the risks associated with hazardous work Conduct regular safety inspections, hazard assessments, and risk evaluations to identify potential hazards. Ensure all safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, alarms, and emergency lighting, is regularly inspected and maintained. Training and Development Plan and conduct safety training and awareness programs for employees, contractors, and visitors. Develop training materials and conduct drills for emergency response, fire safety, and first aid. Incident Management Investigate workplace accidents, near-misses, and other incidents to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions. Prepare detailed reports on incidents and provide insights to management for preventive measures Safety Audits and Inspections Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to monitor compliance with safety standards. Emergency Response Planning Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and emergency contact lists, Emergency response team to take incase of emergency situation Lead emergency drills and evaluate the effectiveness of emergency response plans. Communication and Reporting Communicate safety performance, incidents, and corrective actions to management and employees. Maintain records of safety statistics, incidents, and corrective actions taken. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Management Ensure the availability, proper use, and maintenance of personal protective equipment. Regularly assess the effectiveness of PPE and recommend improvements. Continuous Improvement Continuously review and improve safety practices based on the latest industry standards and technologies. Stay updated on changes in safety legislation and best practices. Skills & Competences Enhance Strong knowledge of safety management principles, risk assessment, and incident investigation. To train and motivate employees. Proficiency in report writing and safety documentation. Evaluate hazards and recommend effective safety measures. Chemical Management Chemicals are purchased, stored, transported, handled and used in a way that protects the health and safety of workers and the environment. Chemical risks are assessed as per the UN Global Harmonising System and chemicals are labelled accordingly. Alternative chemicals with lower risks to the health and safety of workers and the environment are identified and used. Accident Insurance Accident insurance is provided to all workers. Insurance covers medical treatment for work related injuries and illnesses and provides compensation for work related injuries and illnesses resulting in permanent disability or death. Occupational health and safety risks, including those related to mental health and ergonomics, are assessed and actions are taken to mitigate them.
