Job Description

Sr Electrical & ELV Design Engineer – Modular Construction Location:IITM Research Park, Taramani, ChennaiJoin Us in Engineering the Future of Industrialised ConstructionWe are building a new category of construction— factory-born, precision-driven, modular building systemsdesigned for scale, speed, and human impact. Our mission is to revolutionize personal and institutional construction through scientific rigor, DFMA-driven systems, and industrialized workflows. Electrical systems are not an afterthought in this journey—they are central to safety, energy performance, reliability, and lifecycle value. AsElectrical & ELV Design Lead , you will own the electrical engineering backbone of our modular ecosystem—from load calculations to coordinated BIM sign-offs—ensuring our buildings are safe, scalable, and manufacturable. The Role You will leadend-to-end electrical and ELV engineering designfor modular buildings across residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial typologies. Your mandate is not just compliance—it issystem optimization for scale, manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and rapid deployment. You will work closely with: Structural & Modular Design Teams BIM & Digital Engineering Procurement & Supply Chain Project Execution & Site Teams External Consultants & Approval AuthoritiesKey Responsibilities 1. Electrical Load Analysis & System Design Perform detailed load calculations as perIS 732 ,IS 3043 ,National Electrical Code of Indiaand relevant IS standards. Design HT/LT systems including: Transformer sizing DG set sizing UPS systems Power distribution boards Busbar trunking systems Short circuit calculations and protection coordination. Voltage drop calculations and cable sizing. Lightning protection system design. Earthing system design (grid / plate / chemical earthing). 2. ELV Systems Engineering Design and coordinate: Fire Alarm Systems (as perIS 2189 ) CCTV Systems Access Control Systems Structured Cabling Public Address Systems BMS integration Data & Server Room Infrastructure Ensure modular routing compatibility and factory integration feasibility. 3. Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA) Optimize routing for: Pre-installed conduits in wall panels Pre-wired modules Plug-and-play electrical interfaces Standardize: Distribution board layouts Panel schedules Cable tray modules Reduce on-site wiring complexity through prefabricated assemblies. Develop electrical installation methodology aligned to modular erection sequencing. 4. Equipment Sizing & Technical Approvals Finalise technical specifications for: Transformers DG sets UPS systems Panels & switchgear Cables Lighting fixtures Evaluate vendor technical submittals. Review manufacturer datasheets. Approve materials before procurement. Participate in techno-commercial evaluations. 5. Bill of Quantities (BOQ) & BOM Development Prepare detailed BOQs for tender and execution. Develop accurate Electrical & ELV BOMs for: Modular factory production Site installation Optimise design for cost without compromising safety or reliability. Support the estimation team with quantity validation. 6. Project Profitability & Cost Engineering Perform value engineering exercises. Compare alternatives (copper vs aluminium, busbar vs cable, etc.). Reduce overdesign. Support project cost control reviews. Monitor the electrical scope margin impact. 7. Electrical Drawing Review & Coordination Prepare and review: SLDs (Single Line Diagrams) Load schedules Cable schedules Lighting layouts Power layouts Earthing layouts Fire alarm drawings Conduct coordinated drawing reviews with: Structural Architecture MEP Lead BIM coordination meetings. Final sign-off on coordinated electrical drawings prior to fabrication.8. Site & Factory Integration Conduct factory audits for electrical pre-installations. Verify panel assembly QC. Conduct pre-dispatch inspections. Support commissioning and site inspections. Approve ITPs and QC documentation. 9. Modular Electrical System Development Develop a standardised electrical architecture for: Residential modules Institutional blocks Industrial modules Create electrical “design templates” for scalable deployment.
