Job Description – Sr. Engineer (Piping) Location:Chennai Industry:Oil & Gas Experience:8+ YearsMandatory Requirement:Experience inUpstream Oil & Gas projectsis a must. A) Role Summary Execute piping engineering activities for assigned projects while leading a dedicated team of4 to 8 engineers/designers . The role may involve handling a complete small project or specific areas within a large project. B) Key Responsibilities 1. Project Delivery & Coordination Act asSingle Point of Contact (SPOC)with full accountability forqualityandon‑time deliveryof all piping activities for the assigned project/area. Participate inDesign Reviewsand ensure engineering compliance. Coordinate with theOnsite Project Coordinatorfor technical and execution-related matters. 2. Support to Piping Lead Assist Piping Lead in preparingproposals ,manhour estimates , and bid inputs. Support withmanpower forecasts ,gap analysis , and harmonizing allocation of shared resources. Assist inproject scheduling , including managing extensions or re‑baselining requirements. Support in managinginter‑discipline interfaces(Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Process, etc.). Contribute toclaimsrelated to rework, extra work, idle time, etc. 3. Quality, Efficiency & Technical Guidance Ensure uniformity and efficiency indesign philosophies ; contribute through regular feedback and lessons learned. Address and resolvetechnical queriesraised by team members and ensure smooth execution. C) Required Technical Skills / Knowledge Base Hands‑on experience in key piping deliverables: Plot Plan Equipment Layout Piping Layout Piping MTO Piping Isometrics Pipe Supports Good understanding of3D model–based detail engineering , including 3D admin interfaces. Basic understanding ofpiping stress analysis concepts . Strong understanding ofinterdisciplinary coordination . Familiarity with relevantindustry codes and standards(ASME, API, etc.). Exposure toBrownfield / Turnaround / MOCprojects involving existing facility tie-ins. Strong proficiency inMS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Paint . Good English communication skills (both written and verbal). D) Mandatory Experience ✔Experience in Upstream Oil & Gas Projects is a MUST , including: Wellheads Flowlines Gathering stations Offshore/Onshore upstream facilities Associated piping and layouts E) Added Advantage (Preferred Skills) a. Overall awareness ofproject lifecycleand detailed piping engineering workflows. b. Experience insubcontractingtechnical scope. c. Exposure tosite assignmentsduring construction/commissioning. d. Working withLaser Scan Inputs . e. Experience, inPiping Material SpecificationandValve procurement . f. Working knowledge of3D modeling tools(AVEVA E3D, PDMS, SP3D, etc.).
