(Website:)Job Description: The PD and R engineer at Planys Technologies is responsible for several broad functions including, Research and development, Standardisation, and scale-up to commercial deployment product and payload survey interaction with OEMs and inspection service providers relating to NDT techniques, survey modalities, and related payloads and sub-systems, for robotic platforms.This engineer will also need to lead projects drawing resources from several different departments at Planys, working with several external OEMs and service providers to understand and assess feasibility of combining and developing the following activities, NDT techniques including ultrasonics, electromagnetics, and acoustics. Survey modalities including bathymetry, sub-bottom/ multi-beam profiling, imaging sonars, and scour estimation. Other emerging vision-based modalities including Laser, photogrammetry, and Lidar.This engineer will be responsible for rigorous literature review to support feasibility studies for adapting emerging technologies on robotic platforms; numerical and experimental work for proof-of-concept stage solutions, and finally, organise and lead field trials and pilot projects of the developed prototype inspection systems.The engineer will need to interact with several internal departments including the business development, product development, maintenance, and operations for understanding requirements and assessing project feasibility, providing inputs to design, fabrication and procurements, and providing documentation and training material for field engineers to use the developed technology in the field, respectively.He/ she will also be responsible for publishing and presenting papers at conferences; publishing journals, and patents on the developed technologies.The engineer will also be involved in management of project delivery, project related reports and updates, product documentation - operation and training manuals in coordination with the engineering department, and post-delivery technical and warranty related support.The engineer will also aid and support management of existing product and services line-up, pursuing, (i) continuous improvement on the various fronts including reliability, ease of maintenance and assembly, product life, (ii) corrective action by rigorous study of pain-points by coordinating the respective stakeholders, and (iii) aid in development of related processes and SOPsThe engineer will also be responsible to lead implementation projects in the field.
