The role focuses on employability, industry partnerships, NSQF-aligned curriculum, placements, and entrepreneurship outcomes, in line with NEP 2020, NSDC, NCVET, and national/ state skilling priorities.Key Responsibilities Strategy & Leadership Design and implement a comprehensive skill development strategy aligned with institutional objectives Lead multi-disciplinary teams delivering skill-based degree, diploma, and certificate programs Establish outcome-based Key Performance Indicator (KPIs) focused on industrial training, apprenticeships, entrepreneurship and placementsIndustry & Employer Engagement Build and manage strategic partnerships with industries, MSMEs, startups, and sector skill councils Facilitate co-owned skill labs, Centres of Excellence, and industry-sponsored programs Align curriculum with current and future workforce needsAcademic & Curriculum Development Ensure programs are aligned with NSQF levels, NCVET guidelines, and NEP 2020 Integrate work-integrated learning, apprenticeships, on-the-job training, and live industry projects Oversee faculty upskilling and industry immersion programsPlacements & Employability Drive placement-linked training models and employer-validated assessments Strengthen apprenticeship, internship, and job-placement pipelines Track and report measurable student outcomesGovernment & Funding Liaison Liaise with State & Central Government bodies, Skill Development Missions, NSDC, and funding agencies Support implementation of government schemes (PMKVY, NAPS, NATS, state skill initiatives) Ensure compliance, reporting, and audit readinessEligibility CriteriaEducation Postgraduate degree in Engineering/Management/ Education/ Social Sciences, or related fields Doctorate preferred (PhD) but not mandatory for candidates with strong industry leadership experienceExperience 15+ years of experience in skill development, vocational education, higher education, or workforce development Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role (Director / Head / Mission Leader) Proven experience in industry partnerships, large-scale skilling programs, and placementsKey Competencies & Skills Deep understanding of India’s skill ecosystem (NSQF, NSDC, NCVET, SSCs) Strong industry network and employer engagement capability Strategic planning and execution excellence Leadership, stakeholder management, and team-building skills Data-driven decision making and outcome tracking Excellent communication and policy-level coordination skillsDesirable Attributes Experience working with state or national skill development missions Exposure to university-industry integration models Passion for youth employability, entrepreneurship, and inclusive growth Willingness to travel and engage across industry clustersCompensation Competitive and commensurate with experience Performance-linked incentives tied to placements
