At OGS India, we are not just hiring for a role—we are inviting you to join a purpose-driven, people-first culture where your growth, well-being, and individuality are celebrated every step of the way.Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Azure & Azure Databricks Tech Lead to lead our organization's strategic migration from Informatica & Oracle to Databricks and oversee the modernization of our data infrastructure on Azure. This is a critical technical leadership role that combines hands-on expertise with mentoring responsibilities, driving both technical excellence and organizational capability development in cloud-native data platforms. The successful candidate will provide technical vision and direction for our Databricks migration initiative, lead a team of data engineers, and ensure enterprise-grade data management practices, design patterns, and architectural standards are implemented across all projects.The Azure & Databricks Tech Lead is responsible for: •Leading the Informatica & Oracle-to-Databricks Migration Project – Designing and executing the technical strategy for migrating critical data workloads from Oracle to Databricks on Azure •Technical Leadership – Providing expert guidance on AzureDatabricks architecture, best practices, and implementation strategies: •Team Development – Coaching and mentoring senior data engineers and data engineers on Databricks, Azure, and enterprise data management principles •Quality & Standards – Establishing and enforcing data management best practices, design patterns, and architectural standards •Solution Design & Review – Collaborating on technical designs, architecture decisions, and code quality oversight •Cross-Functional Collaboration – Working with stakeholders, solution architects, and business teams to align technical solutions with organizational needsTechnical Architecture & Design: •Provide technical leadership on Azure and Databricks architecture decisions •Participate in designing data pipelines, schemas, and integration solutions •Conduct technical design and code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and architectural standards •Identify and resolve complex technical challenges related to data modeling, partitioning, indexing, and performance •Collaborate with cloud architects and solution designers on enterprise scale solutions •Ensure proper understanding of how concepts transfer across platforms (e.g., Oracle partitioning vs. Databricks approaches)Data Management & Quality: •Champion enterprise data management best practices and prevent,"Cowboy coding" approaches •Oversee data modeling, schema design, and database structure to ensure consistency and maintainability •Ensure proper separation between source data management and use-case specific views/transformations •Address data integrity, consistency, and quality concerns proactively •Advise on potential Azure SQL integrations and relational database design considerations •Establish standards for data partitioning, access patterns, and performance optimizationTechnical Leadership & Standards: •Define and evolve development practices, tools, and procedures for the data engineering team •Champion adoption of cloud-native patterns and Azure/Databricks best practices Participate in design reviews and recommend changes to meet business and technical requirements •Manage technical documentation and knowledge repositories •Stay current with Databricks, Azure, and data platform technologies and innovationsCollaboration & Communication: •Work closely with project managers, solution architects, and technical stakeholders •Provide regular technical status updates and escalations to leadership •Collaborate cross-functionally to optimize development processes and ensure successful project delivery •Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and business stakeholders •Partner with QA and infrastructure teams to resolve issues and optimize solutionsCore Technical Experience: •Azure Databricks (PRIMARY FOCUS) – 5+ years of hands-on •Databricks experience; deep expertise in Databricks architecture, cluster management, and data processing •Relational Databases (ADVANCED) – 7+ years of advanced relational database expertise including design, optimization, and data integrity concepts •Oracle Experience (HIGHLY PREFERRED) – 5+ years of Oracle database administration, development, or architecture; understanding of Oracle-specific concepts and optimization techniques •Azure Cloud Platform – 4+ years of Azure experience; proficiency with Azure data services, storage, networking, and integration services •Data Platforms & Tools – Experience with modern data stack tools; understanding of ETL/ELT, data warehousing, and data lake conceptsLeadership & Project Experience: •Technical Leadership – 3+ years in a technical lead or architect role with proven mentoring and team development experience •Project Leadership – Experience leading complex technical projects, preferably including migration, modernization, or platform transformation initiatives •Team Management – 2+ years managing or leading technical teams with full responsibility for performance and development •Migration Experience (HIGHLY PREFERRED) – Experience leading database migrations or platform modernization projects; understanding of migration challenges, data validation, and cutover processesREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES Technical Competencies: •Data Modeling & Database Design – Expert-level understanding of relational design, normalization, data integrity constraints, and dimensional modeling •SQL & Query Optimization – Advanced SQL proficiency; ability to optimize queries and troubleshoot performance issues •Databricks Ecosystem – Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow, Notebooks, jobs, clusters, and production deployment patterns •Data Pipeline Architecture – ETL/ELT design, data orchestration, error handling, and monitoring •Azure Services – Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Storage, Azure Synapse, networking, and security •Programming/Scripting – Python, Scala, SQL, and scripting for data engineering tasks •Cloud Architecture Principles – Scalability, security, cost optimization, and disaster recoverySoft Skills & Leadership Abilities: •Strong technical leadership and mentoring abilities •Excellent communication skills (written and verbal);
