Job Description

Role :Manager, Platform EngineeringAbout the role As Manager, Advisor Platform Engineering in our Advisor Platform Architecture & Engineering organization, you’ll lead a high‑performing team to deliver critical capabilities for the Advisor Platform. You’ll translate product and business goals into a clear team roadmap, uphold engineering standards, and remove obstacles to team performance—partnering closely with Product, Design, and Operations. Anchored in our core values of Make it Happen, Serve, and One Team, you’ll use data to improve speed, quality, reliability, and cost of ownership—while fostering innovation, inclusion, and continuous learning. What you’ll Do: Own the team roadmap and delivery plan aligned to the Advisor Platform strategy; define clear outcomes, OKRs/KPIs, and operating mechanisms. Hire, develop, and retain diverse engineering talent; provide coaching, feedback, and growth opportunities; conduct performance reviews and succession planning for key roles. Ensure delivery excellence across the SDLC—plan sprints, drive high quality code reviews, strengthen CI/CD, test automation, observability, and incident/postmortem practices. Uphold engineering standards and controls (secure coding, data protection, change management, access governance) within the team; partner with Security/Compliance as needed. Make data driven trade offs on scope, schedule, and quality; manage team capacity and delivery commitments; provide input to resourcing and vendor decisions. Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Data, Operations, and Support to clarify requirements, sequence work, and deliver measurable business value. Proactively identify and mitigate risks; lead team level incident response and root cause remediation; ensure solutions meet internal standards and applicable regulatory guidelines. Maintain practical domain awareness of wealth management and client sensitivities (e.g., data privacy, suitability, fiduciary obligations) to inform design and implementation. Contribute to architecture and modernization initiatives (cloud/platform evolution, build vs. buy, legacy remediation) to improve scalability, resilience, and developer productivity. Drive a culture of inclusion, reliability, and continuous improvement—facilitate blameless postmortems, track action items, and reduce toil through automation. Be a hands on technical leader—participate in design reviews, review pull requests, and mentor engineers on system design, testing strategies, and operational excellence. Communicate progress and outcomes with clear narratives and metrics to stakeholders; escalate risks and dependencies early with proposed options. What You Bring:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). 8+ years of significant, progressively responsible experience in software engineering, including 2+ years directly managing software engineers (or tech leads) to solve complex technical and operational challenges. Proven delivery of cloud native services and ownership of SDLC excellence (Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, testing/automation, observability, reliability/SRE practices). Applied knowledge of secure coding, data protection, and change management; able to embed controls and quality gates throughout the SDLC. Strong collaboration skills in matrixed environments; able to align with Product/Design and influence outcomes with clear narratives and data. Operational judgment with hands on exposure to incident response, postmortems, and continuous improvement; comfortable making data driven trade offs. Financial services/regulatory literacy—awareness of requirements and client sensitivities (e.g., data privacy, suitability, auditability) in regulated environments (or willingness to learn quickly). Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering (or related) or an MBA with strong technical depth (preferred). Direct wealth management platform experience (preferred). Experience modernizing legacy platforms and accelerating cloud migrations (preferred). Familiarity with multi region architectures, SOC/SOX audit readiness, or PCI and SOC 2 implementations (preferred).
