Position Purpose To lead indirect tax strategy and advisory for Essar Capital and its Indian entities, ensuring compliance with all applicable GST, customs, and other indirect tax laws. The role will also support transaction advisory, regulatory interface, litigation, and contribute to group-wide tax planning and structuring initiatives. Provide advisory support on classification, valuation, tax structuring, and place of supply for goods/services. Track legislative and regulatory developments to assess business impact and recommend actions. Lead indirect tax health checks and recommend optimization strategies. 2.Compliance & Representation Oversee GST filings (GSTR 1, 3B, annual returns, reconciliation) across group entities. Support cross-border indirect tax implications including customs valuation, SEZ benefits, import/export compliance. Represent the organization before GST authorities, DGCEI, appellate bodies for notices, audits, and assessments. Coordinate with tax consultants, internal auditors, and statutory authorities for timely compliance. 3.Transaction & Cross-functional Support Partner with M&A, legal, finance, and commercial teams to assess indirect tax implications of business transactions. Advise on input tax credit optimization, procurement structures, and inter-company transactions. Evaluate impact of e-commerce/GST network provisions on technology-driven businesses. 4.Indirect Tax Litigation Prepare draft replies for show cause notices, appeals, and assist in strategy formulation for ongoing litigation. Liaise with external counsel for representation in appellate forums. 5.Documentation, Controls & Reporting Maintain repository of legal opinions, advance rulings, and past assessments. Drive automation and digitization of GST compliance processes where feasible. Prepare monthly dashboards for senior management on tax positions, risks, and contingent liabilities.
