Job Title: Project Manager – Construction Audit with Analytical skillsRole Overview Fort Hill Associates is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Construction Audit to join our construction audit consulting practice. This role requires a strong combination of analytical expertise, audit judgment, and clear, confident communication. The Project Manager will be responsible for leading individual construction audit engagements, managing a dedicated team of 2–3 analysts, and delivering high-quality audit reports that assess contractor compliance with contract terms. Reporting to a U.S.-based Audit Lead, this role involves planning, executing, synthesizing, and communicating complex audit findings across multiple concurrent projects. Success in this role requires the ability to analyze large volumes of financial and contractual data, structure unorganized information into clear insights, and communicate findings effectively to both internal leadership and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Audit Execution & Analytical Leadership Lead construction audit engagements using a risk-based, analytical approach to evaluate contract compliance, cost accuracy, and control effectiveness. Perform front-end reviews of construction bid packages, proposals, and contracts to identify financial and compliance risks. Conduct in-process and closeout cost and billing reviews, including detailed analysis of labor, materials, equipment, general conditions, and other cost components. Utilize data analytics tools (Excel, Power BI, SQL, AI, or similar technologies) to streamline audit procedures, enhance risk identification, and improve efficiency and accuracy of audit testing. Apply advanced data analysis techniques to identify trends, anomalies, financial leakage, and operational risks. Evaluate audit results to identify cost recovery opportunities, cost savings, and process improvement recommendations. Project & Team Management Manage multiple audit projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks, timelines, and resources effectively. Oversee and guide a team of analysts, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality in audit workpapers and deliverables. Coordinate interviews, document requests, and follow-ups with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Monitor corrective action plans, track progress, escalate issues when needed, and ensure timely resolution. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement Serve as a primary point of contact for daily coordination with the Audit Lead. Participate in and lead contractor interviews and walkthroughs, clearly articulating audit objectives and inquiries. Prepare clear, well-structured written audit reports that translate complex data into concise observations, impacts, and recommendations. Deliver oral presentations and discussions with management and clients to explain findings, support conclusions, and facilitate action plans. Respond to client requests related to internal controls, special investigations, and process evaluations with clarity and professionalism. Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech minimum required); M.Tech or MBA preferred. PMP certification is a plus. Minimum 6+ years of experience in finance audit, Construction audit or controls; experience in the construction industry is strongly preferred. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of Power BI, SQL, AI-enabled tools, or other data analytics platforms is highly desirable. Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to structure unorganized data into actionable insights. Excellent verbal and exceptional written English communication skills, with the ability to explain complex audit issues clearly and concisely. Ability to work independently in a matrix environment while collaborating across teams and geographies. Willingness and ability to support Eastern Time Zone calls and working hours, as required.
