Job DescriptionDirector Of PhotographyCompany Description .......Role Overview The Director of Photography (DoP) is responsible for shaping thevisual language and cinematic qualityof all video content — including branded films, commercials, digital campaigns, social content, and long-form storytelling. This role translates creative concepts into compelling visual narratives through expert control of lighting, camera, composition, movement, and mood. The ideal candidate combinesstrong artistic vision with technical mastery , and works closely with directors, creative teams, and production units to ensure every frame aligns with the brand’s storytelling intent.Key Responsibilities 1. Visual Concept & Look Development Collaborate with Directors, Creative Directors, and Art teams to develop thevisual tone, mood, and aestheticfor each project. Interpret scripts, storyboards, and creative decks to design a cohesivecinematic approach . Define the overallvisual language— including color palette, lighting style, framing, and camera movement. 2. Camera & Lighting Direction Select appropriate camera systems, lenses, filters, rigs, and accessories based on project requirements. Design and execute lighting setups that enhance mood, depth, texture, and narrative impact. Supervise camera crew, gaffers, grips, and lighting teams on set. Ensure technical excellence in exposure, focus, color balance, and shot composition. 3. On-Set Execution Lead the camera and lighting department during shoots. Collaborate with the Director to block scenes, plan shot lists, and execute complex sequences. Ensure efficient setup, continuity, and visual consistency throughout the shoot. Solve on-ground visual challenges under tight timelines and changing conditions. 4. Post-Production Collaboration Work closely with editors and colorists to ensure final output matches the intended visual style. Participate in color grading and look finalisation. Guide post teams on framing, pacing, and visual storytelling. 5. Equipment & Technical Planning Recommend and manage equipment rentals and technical resources. Ensure camera systems, storage, and workflows align with production needs. Stay updated with latest camera technologies, lenses, lighting tools, and cinematography trends. 6. Brand & Campaign Consistency Maintain brand visual consistency across multiple campaigns and formats. Adapt cinematic language for different platforms — TVCs, digital films, reels, shorts, YouTube, etc. Ensure visuals align with brand tone, target audience, and platform behaviour.Key Skills & Competencies Strong visual storytelling and cinematic sensibility. Expert knowledge of camera systems (ARRI, RED, Sony, Blackmagic, etc.). Advanced understanding of lighting techniques and visual composition. Deep technical knowledge of lenses, formats, codecs, color science, and workflows. Excellent collaboration and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and deliver high-quality visuals within tight schedules. Strong leadership and team management on set.Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Cinematography, Film, Media, or related field (preferred). 5–10+ years of experience as a Director of Photography or Senior Cinematographer. Proven experience across commercials, branded content, digital films, and social formats. Strong showreel/portfolio demonstrating visual range and storytelling depth.
