To meet 2040 net zero goals, over 2 billion electric two-wheelers (motorcycles) must be sold and $11 trillion in fuel consumption replaced. Zeno is building a tech platform to electrify this two-wheeler market, currently responsible for more than 4% of the world’s GHG emissions. Our mission is to accelerate the energy transition and democratize the benefits across Africa, India, and Latin America. With a focus on East Africa as a starting point, Zeno is building a new energy ecosystem with ground-up development of a fundamentally better electric motorcycle and associated battery swap network to drive a better experience for our customers. We are looking for audacious, creative, and committed people to join us on this important mission. Develop electrical architecture for vehicle charging interface, connectors, protection systems, and communication with BMS/vehicle controllers. Support design of charging cabinets, swap stations, power distribution units, and safety cut-off systems. Define electrical specifications, charging limits, safety requirements, and communication protocols for all charging components. Ensure compliance with EV and charging safety standards (AIS156, AIS138, AIS004, IEC 61851, ISO 15118). Conduct charger bring-up, validation testing, thermal evaluation, derating analysis, and EMI/EMC compliance. Collaborate with firmware teams to ensure robust hardware–software integration for charging control and safety. Work with suppliers on charger design reviews, DFM/DFA, homologation, and production readiness. Develop test plans, validation protocols, and electrical safety checks for charging systems. Drive root-cause analysis and issue resolution for charging-related field failures or reliability concerns. Support creation of wiring harness schematics, power path diagrams, and system documentation for charging systems. Optimize cost, reliability, and manufacturability of charging hardware throughout the product lifecycle. What You Bring 3–7 years of experience in EV charging systems, power electronics, or electrical system design. Strong understanding of AC–DC converter topologies, rectifiers, power supplies, isolation, protection circuits, and thermal management. Solid understanding of lithium-ion battery charging behavior and BMS–charger communication. Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, PWM, LIN, UART, PLC, or ISO 15118-style messaging. Experience with EV charging standards, safety norms, and certification processes (AIS, IEC, ISO). Hands-on experience with testing and debugging using oscilloscopes, power analyzers, DMMs, load banks, and thermal test equipment. Experience with schematic/PCB tools (Altium, OrCAD, KiCad) is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a deep understanding of failure analysis. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, hardware-intensive environment.Benefits Competitive salary aligned with experience. Company-sponsored healthcare plan.
