Purpose of the Role: We are looking for an experienced and motivated professional to be the Global VAT Tax Specialist in our GCC office, responsible for leading day‑to‑day Operational VAT activities for the global companies within the Global Tax COE. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant execution of VAT reporting, data preparation, reconciliations, and documentation across multiple jurisdictions. The VAT Tax Specialist will act as a subject‑matter expert for VAT processes, support continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to maintain high‑quality tax compliance operations.2. Key Tasks & Responsibilities: - Operational VAT Compliance Prepare, review, and submit VAT returns, EC Sales Lists, Intrastat/ESL filings, and related indirect tax reports for assigned companies and jurisdictions. Perform data extraction, validation, and reconciliations (e.g., VAT GL accounts, taxable/non‑taxable transactions, input vs. output VAT). Ensure completeness and accuracy of transactional tax data, coordinating with Finance, AP, AR, and other internal teams as needed. Maintain VAT calendars to ensure on‑time filings, payments, and refunds.- Process Leadership & Continuous Improvement Act as the operational lead for VAT activities within the back office, ensuring consistent execution of defined processes. Identify opportunities for standardization, automation, and control enhancements. Assist in designing and implementing process documentation (SOPs, workflows, control matrices). Support implementation and testing of VAT‑related system enhancements (ERP, tax engines, compliance tools).- Technical Expertise & Risk Management Monitor VAT regulatory changes impacting assigned jurisdictions and escalate risks to senior tax leadership. Provide operational insight into VAT technical matters and help resolve transactional VAT queries from business teams. Support internal and external VAT audits, ensuring timely provision of evidence, documentation, and reconciliations. Maintain audit files, supporting documents, and reconciliations in accordance with internal control and retention standards.- Stakeholder Collaboration Work closely with Global tax and finance teams, other member of the shared service center, and external advisors to ensure accurate VAT treatment. Support on the compliance questions, refund processes, and audit requests (as applicable). Partner with IT, Finance, Intercompany Team, Procurement, and Order‑to‑Cash teams to improve data quality and VAT determination.3. Qualifications, Experience & Skills: - Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field. 2–5+ years of experience in VAT/Indirect Tax compliance, preferably in a multinational environment or shared service center. - Technical Skills Strong knowledge of VAT rules and compliance processes across one or more jurisdictions (EU or global exposure preferred). Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Workday, etc.) and tax compliance tools. Advanced Excel skills; comfort working with large data sets. Understanding of VAT audits, documentation requirements, and internal controls.- Core Competencies Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. High attention to detail with strong data accuracy skills. Ability to manage recurring deadlines in a high‑volume environment. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions. Proactive, organized, and able to drive operational improvements. - Preferred Qualifications Professional tax qualification (e.g., ADIT, CTA, CPA, local VAT certifications) is an advantage.
