Purpose of this position / Position summaryThe Head of Global EHS defines and governs the global strategy for Environment, Health, and Safety across all manufacturing, design and supply chain sites. This role designs , implements and maintain an EHS/OHS management system as integral part of the VIS quality management system. That ensures compliance with international, federal, and local EHS regulations, drives continuous improvement in health and safety practices, and oversees material compliance and internal auditing to safeguard employees and the environment. The position collaborates closely with Business Unit and site EHS representatives, fosters a proactive safety culture, and leads international teams as a strategic partner to shape a safe, healthy, and sustainable global working environment.Primary duties and responsibilitiesDirect and oversee the assurance of compliance with environment and occupational health and safety (EHS) regulations for CZV processes, products, and services, addressing a multitude of external obligations derived from international and national directives, laws, ordinances, standards, and guidelines. Maintain and continually improve the EHS management system to ensure independent regulatory compliance, regardless of EMS or OHSMS certification status. This core regulatory scope complements the strategic and operational leadership of the Head of Global EHS—defining and aligning the global EHS strategy and management system with corporate goals, driving compliance with regulatory and company standards, overseeing material compliance, and auditing, and fostering a proactive safety culture. The Head of Global EHS leads international teams as a strategic partner, shapes a safe, healthy, and sustainable global working environment, and reports directly to senior management.Key accountabilities include: Providing EHS regulatory intelligence through ongoing monitoring, identification, and evaluation of new or revised regulations, with a focus on EU legislation. Supporting key business functions in securing and maintaining EHS regulatory conformity through expert guidance, communication, training, implementation tools, and project management. Assuming process ownership for critical compliance areas—material compliance, dangerous goods, emissions, waste, RoHS, ecolabels, and external communications. Monitoring and reporting compliance, conducting risk control, and supporting due diligence processes across global operations. Serving as the primary interface with external EHS authorities, industry associations, and regulatory expert groups. Ensuring conformity with relevant EHS legislation throughout all product lifecycle stages. Managing non-legislative requirements such as eco-labels, sustainability initiatives, and market or tender criteria. Designing and delivering training programs; providing consultation for emergency response, hazardous materials management, occupational hygiene, fall protection, ergonomics, and fleet safety. Recommending and managing corrective actions to eliminate or mitigate workplace hazards. Promoting EHS values and culture through communication and collaborative teamwork. Strategic Leadership: Advising senior management on EHS risks and improvement measures. Regulatory Compliance: Implementing and updating EHS processes and training as part of QMS; ensuring compliance with all relevant OHS and environmental regulations. Material Compliance: Overseeing materials approval in collaboration with procurement and production. Risk Management: Leading hazard assessments and required testing; implementing corrective actions for audit findings. Internal Auditing: Managing global internal auditing for EHS compliance and corrective action follow-up. Leadership and Development: Supervising and mentoring EHS staff worldwide; developing training and goals for teams. Reporting and Analysis: Overseeing data collection, trend analysis, and reporting to management. Emergency Response: Designing, implementing, and training for emergency response plans. Continuous Improvement: Facilitating continuous EHS improvement and best practice sharing. Stakeholder Engagement: Engaging with regulators, management, and employees to foster collaboration and compliance. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering with HR, Legal, Operations, Procurement, Sustainability, and R&D. Budget Management: Overseeing EHS budget, resources, and cost control. Sustainability Initiatives: Promoting sustainability within EHS strategy. Change Management: Leading EHS-related change initiatives. Other Duties: Supporting all other tasks and projects necessary to fulfill overall EHS objectives.Education requirements / Experience / Job SpecificationsEducation / Professional Certification MSc in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, BS/MSc in Life Sciences and/or related experience. Additional qualification as (SiFa) desired. CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) ISO 14001 Lead Auditor; ISO 45001 knowledge/certification preferred.Experience Minimum 7-10 years in a senior EHS role within a manufacturing environment. Proven experience in global EHS management, production environments, process optimization, and change management. - Knowledge / Skills / Other characteristics Strong knowledge of international EHS regulations and standards. Experience with EHS management systems, data analysis tools, and risk assessment methodologies. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to travel internationally as required.Working conditions & Other Attributes. Global role with collaboration across time zones; mix of office and manufacturing environments. International travel as required to sites and audits. Requires periodic presence in production areas and during emergency drills or incident investigations.
