GITAM (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru Campus Department of Mechanical Engineering Positions - Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor - Specializations Required - Robotics & AI - Automotive Engineering - Digital Manufacturing - Thermal Engineering and allied areas (Thermal-fluid sciences, Heat Transfer, Energy Systems) (Preference will be given to Ph.D. holders) Position Summary GITAM (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru Campus invites applications from qualified, motivated, and dynamic candidates for the position of Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching, research, and academic service, with a focus on Thermal Engineering and/or Robotics & AI, Digital Manufacturing, and Automotive Engineering. The faculty member will contribute to the academic growth of the department and the University through high-quality teaching, impactful research, and active participation in institutional activities. Key Responsibilities - Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Mechanical Engineering (Thermal Engineering, Robotics, AI, Digital Manufacturing, Automotive, and allied subjects). - Develop, maintain, and strengthen a focused and high-quality research program in the relevant area of specialization. - Publish research outcomes in reputed peer-reviewed journals and conferences. - Mentor and advise undergraduate and postgraduate students. - Guide student projects and research work (UG/PG/Ph.D., as applicable). - Contribute to curriculum development, revision, and assessment processes. - Participate in departmental, university, and professional service activities. - Engage in academic administration, accreditation, and quality assurance activities. - Promote industry interaction, consultancy, and participation in funded research projects, where applicable. Teaching & Research Skills - Ability to teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in Thermal Engineering and/or Robotics, AI, Digital Manufacturing, and Automotive Engineering. - Demonstrated research capability with publications in reputed journals and conferences. - Experience in guiding student projects and research work (PG/Ph.D., as applicable). Professional Skills - Good communication and presentation skills. - Commitment to academic excellence, innovation in teaching, and student mentoring. - Ability to contribute effectively to curriculum development, accreditation, and departmental activities. - Exposure to industry collaboration, consultancy, or funded research projects will be an added advantage. Required Qualifications Education: - Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a closely related discipline from a recognized university, as per UGC/AICTE and University norms. Expertise (one or more of the following): - Thermal-fluid sciences - Heat transfer - Energy systems - Robotics & AI - Digital Manufacturing - Automotive Engineering Desired Skill Set - Prior teaching experience at the university level. - Record of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals. - Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration. - Professional engineering licensure (if applicable) will be an added advantage. Experience and Pay - Experience, eligibility, and pay scale shall be as per UGC/AICTE and University norms, depending on the level of appointment (Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor). - Candidates with strong research, publication, and funded project experience will be given preference.
