Job Description: Designation : Sr. Engineer – Design Reporting to : Project LeadLocation : Bangalore, Full TimeQualification : B.E./B.Tech./M.Tech. in Mechanical EngineeringExperience : 4 - 6 YearsKey Responsibilities / Functions: Support the design and development of heavy-duty transportation vehicles such as Axles, trailers, truck bodies, Brakes calliper, etcReview designs, 3D models, and drawings that represent the product in terms of its fit, form, and functionWork closely with counterpart in Finland SISU Axles to support design engineering activities.Support India Business development team to understand customer requirements, technical requirement understandings, providing technical solutions.Drive R&D initiatives through concept generation, technology evaluation, and early-stage prototyping to support new product and platform development.Drive VAVE implementation through design and modularization of components in a product line based on analysis of a commodity category or supplier strategyStay up to date with emerging research and technology breakthroughs through white papers and industry research for sheet metal forming, welding, and casting processesActively participate in continuous learning and professional development activities, including attending training programs, workshops, and conferencesIdentify areas for improvement, troubleshoot technical issues, and propose and implement design modifications of existing product linesMentor trainee engineers and junior engineers on various technical skillsRequired Qualifications: (Education, Technical Skills/Knowledge) Proven experience/exposure in end-to-end product design, preferably in trailer and heavy-duty vehicle industries (experience in related industries will also be considered).Strong technical expertise in sheet metal design, weldments, metal stamping, and metal forming, combined with a solid foundation in general engineering principles.Working knowledge of casting design, including material selection, casting process selection, and design considerations for manufacturability and structural performance.Proficiency in 3D CAD software, with a preference for Solidworks / NX, for component design, detailed drawing creation, and a strong ability to adapt to different engineering tools and applications as needed.Well-versed in Weld Symbols, GD&T and ANSI drawing standardsStrong knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) practices, with the ability to troubleshoot production challenges and optimize assembly processes.Knowledge of NPD process, design calculations, DFMEA and Concept Selection MatrixAbility to analyse and resolve field failures, production issues, and customer complaints through effective root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.Demonstrated experience collaborating cross-functionally with suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams to develop cost-effective, scalable manufacturing solutions.Awareness of emerging materials, manufacturing technologies, and industry trends to drive continuous improvement and foster innovation.Exposure to Project Management Skills - Ability to plan, co-ordinate and execute tasks for self and team within agreed time and with qualityUnderstanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural validation is an added advantageUnderstanding mechatronic system integration by coordinating mechanical design with sensors, actuators, and control systems is anadded advantageExposure to TTMA and FMVSS standards and regulations with respect to Trailers is an added advantageExposure/experience in working in a global engineering team environment (Preferably with US teams) is an added advantage
