Head of Machine Learning — Voxela (India) About Voxela Voxela is building AI-powered vision systems that act as a virtual caregiver for senior living facilities, hospitals, and care organizations. Our platform analyzes real-time video to detect safety events, generate insights, and assist caregivers proactively. We are a fast-growing startup operating globally, combining edge AI, computer vision, and intelligent automation to transform care delivery. Role Overview We are looking for a Head of Machine Learning to lead Voxela’s AI vision roadmap and build a world-class ML organization. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will define technical direction, architect scalable ML systems, and mentor a high-performance team. You will work closely with founders, product, and engineering to ship production-grade AI systems deployed across real environments. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced startup environments and wants to build category-defining AI products from the ground up. Responsibilities Define and execute Voxela’s ML strategy across computer vision, multimodal AI, and edge intelligence Architect and scale production ML pipelines from data collection → training → deployment → monitoring Lead design and optimization of real-time inference systems running on edge devices and cloud infrastructure Own model accuracy, latency, robustness, and reliability metrics across multiple use-case & deployments Build and mentor a high-caliber ML team, hiring and developing top talent Collaborate cross-functionally with product, hardware, backend, and customer teams Establish evaluation frameworks, experimentation processes, and model lifecycle governance Drive innovation in areas such as detection, tracking, activity recognition, anomaly detection, and scene understanding Stay ahead of research trends and translate cutting-edge techniques into production systems Requirements 8+ years in ML/AI with significant experience shipping production systems Strong background in computer vision and deep learning Experience deploying models in real-time or resource-constrained environments (edge/mobile/embedded) Hands-on expertise with PyTorch or TensorFlow and modern ML tooling Experience building scalable training pipelines and data infrastructure Demonstrated leadership experience managing or mentoring ML engineers Strong system design skills and production mindset Ability to operate in ambiguity and make high-impact technical decisions Nice to Have Experience with video analytics, multimodal models, or large vision models Experience optimizing models for edge inference (quantization, pruning, compilation) Familiarity with MLOps, monitoring, and model observability tools Startup or zero-to-one product experience Publications or open-source contributions in ML/CV Why Join Voxela Build AI systems that directly impact real human lives Work on technically challenging problems at the intersection of vision, edge AI, and real-world environments High ownership and direct collaboration with founders Opportunity to shape both technology and team from an early stage Competitive compensation + equity Location: India (Remote / Hybrid depending on city) If you want to build real-world AI systems, not just models in notebooks, we’d love to talk.
