Our Bengaluru team is developing next‑generation hardware and software modules to enhance the driving experience and accelerate the journey towards autonomous and electrified vehicles.We are seeking a Senior Functional Safety Engineer to lead safety architecture and compliance activities across vehicle systems, ensuring innovation meets reliability in line with ISO 26262 standards.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver functional safety across systems, features, and vehicle electrification programmes.Define safety concepts, targets, and verification methods driven by hazard analysis and risk assessment.Lead functional safety architecture activities across hardware and software platforms (ECUs).Mentor Functional Safety Chapter members and coach cross‑domain teams.Provide technical support and resolve safety issues through data‑driven analysis.Collaborate with technical specialists and research engineers on forward strategies and safety case releases.Support safety audits, assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.Essential Knowledge, Skills & ExperienceProven experience applying functional safety in delivered projects with minimum ASIL C (ISO 26262).Expertise in safety concepts (FSC, TSC) and analyses (STPA, FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, CPA, DFA).Experience in AUTOSAR, ASPICE, and dependent failure analysis.Background in automotive projects including ADAS, propulsion, power architecture, HV/LV electrical distribution.Knowledge of reliability analysis, random hardware failure metrics, and system architecture.Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.Effective team player with leadership and mentoring capabilities.Results‑driven, resilient, and able to balance short‑term focus with medium‑term planning.Desirable:Experience as a functional safety manager or technical specialist.Hands‑on hardware/software development experience (>5 years).Familiarity with tools such as Medini, TRM, Catia Magic MBSE, Reliasoft FMEA, Isograph, IBM DOORS.Personal AttributesDemonstrates JLR’s Creators’ Code behaviours: Customer Love, Unity, Integrity, Growth, and Impact.Autonomous, enthusiastic, and collaborative, with a customer‑first mindset.Strong communicator who can simplify complex ideas and build trust across teams.
