We are seeking a Junior Microbiologist to develop and scale-up fermentation-based active ingredients from lab to commercial production. The role involves strain optimization, media development, process control, and downstream processing to ensure high yield and stability. The candidate will troubleshoot scale-up challenges and support product performance and shelf-life studies. Strong expertise in industrial microbiology and hands-on fermentation experience is essential.Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Development & OptimizationDevelop and optimize microbiology-based active products (enzymes, probiotics, prebiotics, bioactives, fermentation-derived actives)Strain handling, maintenance, and performance optimizationMedia optimization for yield, stability, and cost reductionProcess parameter optimization (pH, temperature, aeration, agitation, time)Scale-Up & Process DevelopmentScale-up from lab scale → pilot scale → production scaleHands-on experience with bioreactors / fermentersTroubleshooting during scale-up and batch failuresDownstream processing: cell separation, filtration, concentration, drying (spray/freeze)Stability & Performance EvaluationConduct stability studies and shelf-life optimizationEvaluate activity retention post-processingSupport preservative systems and microbial control strategyRequired Skills:Strong knowledge of industrial microbiology & fermentationExperience in scale-up of microbial activesHands-on knowledge of media design and fermentation controlUnderstanding of downstream processingGood analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skillsExperience in cosmetic / nutraceutical / agro / pharma microbial actives is a plusKnowledge of prebiotics, lysates, bio-ferments is a plusExposure to cost optimization and commercial batches is a plusQualification:M.Sc. in Microbiology / Biotechnology / Industrial Microbiology3 years experience in microbial product development and scale-up
