Job Description

About Floatex SolarFloatex Solar is India's dominant floating solar PV technology company. With over 1 GW of delivered capacity, we work with India's largest power and infrastructure groups. We provide the engineering backbone for India's most complex floating solar installations: large-scale reservoir and water body projects that few companies in the country have the expertise to deliver. The RoleWe are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer who can independently own the electrical engineering delivery of large-scale solar projects — from equipment specification and drawing review through client approvals and subcontractor coordination. This is a technical authority role, not a coordination role. You will review deliverables from electrical subcontractors, make independent technical judgments, and drive approval from PSU clientsKey ResponsibilitiesElectrical Design Review & ApprovalReview and approve SLDs, protection relay coordination schemes, and HT switchgear drawings from electrical subcontractorsReview transformer, HT panel, LT panel, and cable specifications against project scope and regulatory requirementsPrepare and issue technical comments on subcontractor submissions; track revision and resubmission cyclesReview and sign off on DC cable specifications, SCADA system technical specifications, and WMS ordering notesValidate cable sizing, routing layouts, and interconnection drawings before client submissionClient & Regulatory InterfaceIndependently respond to electrical design comments from PSU clients, PMCs, and regulatory bodiesManage electrical drawing submissions through client document management portals; track approval statusPrepare CRS responses for electrical drawing comments and coordinate re-submissions within client timelinesSupport electrical document submissions through PSU approval portalsSubcontractor & Vendor CoordinationManage the electrical design subcontractor relationship — set inputs, review outputs, hold them to scheduleCoordinate with equipment vendors (transformer, switchgear, cable OEMs) on technical data sheets and drawing approvalsPrepare and issue ordering notes for electrical BOS equipment with full technical specificationsProactively track open items; do not wait to be chased by subcontractors or vendorsProject Execution SupportSupport procurement team with technical evaluation of vendor quotes against project specificationsReview IDT (Inspection and Dispatch Testing) procedures for electrical equipmentAssist in coordination with Siemens, BHEL, and other equipment OEMs on factory acceptance testingRequirementsEssentialB.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering; M.Tech preferred5–10 years in utility-scale solar or renewable energy EPC with a clear electrical engineering and design focusDemonstrated ability to independently review SLDs, protection coordination schemes, HT switchgear drawings, and transformer specifications — not just forward them for approvalExperience managing electrical drawing comment cycles with PSU or government clients (SECI, NTPC, BHEL, GAIL, or equivalent)Working knowledge of IS/IEC standards applicable to solar PV electrical systems (cables, transformers, protection, earthing)Ability to prepare and review technical specifications and ordering notes for electrical BOS equipmentStrong written English — most client and subcontractor communication in this role is email-basedPreferred — but not a barrier to applyingFamiliarity with document management portals used by major PSUs in the power sectorExperience with SCADA system technical specifications and integration requirements for utility-scale solarExposure to IDT/FAT processes for HT switchgear, transformers, or protection relaysExperience coordinating with Siemens, ABB, Schneider, or equivalent OEMs on technical drawing approvalsWhy Join FloatexA rare specialisationFloating solar is at the same stage ground mount was a decade ago. Getting in now means becoming one of a small number of engineers in India with genuine floating solar electrical depth.Work at meaningful scaleProjects range from 10 MW to 200+ MW across some of India's most complex reservoir and water body sites.
