Job Description

About Stolt-Nielsen:Stolt-Nielsen is a family-founded global leader in bulk-liquid and chemical logistics, transportation, and storage, known for its commitment to safety, service excellence, and innovation. At the Stolt-Nielsen Digital Innovation Centre, we bring this legacy into the future — building smarter systems, driving digital transformation, and shaping what's next for the world of logistics. Here, you’re encouraged to think boldly, challenge convention, and help move today’s products toward tomorrow’s possibilities.About the Role:As a UX Researcher, you will be the voice of the user within our product teams. Your focus is on understanding people — how they work, what they need, and where current processes and systems fall short. You will plan and conduct user research, map journeys and workflows, design better processes, and validate solutions through testing — ensuring that what we build is grounded in real user needs. This is not a visual design or UI role. You will work closely with UI Designers who handle the look and feel, but your domain is the experience itself: the research that informs it, the information architecture that structures it, and the process flows that underpin it. You translate messy, real-world complexity into clear, logical user journeys and service blueprints.Working closely with the Head of Design, product owners, and developers, you’ll ensure that every product decision is informed by genuine user insight. You’ll run interviews, observe users in their working context, facilitate workshops, and design the processes and workflows that sit behind our digital products. At Stolt-Nielsen, we take Digital seriously. We invest in our teams through training and mentoring and enable them with the required tools to work in a modern way (MacBook). As we are further building up our engineering practice, there is ample room for you to contribute, take initiative and shape the future of our ways of working and technology landscape. What You’ll Do:Plan, recruit for, and conduct user research — including stakeholder interviews, contextual inquiries, diary studies, and surveys.Synthesize research findings into actionable insights: personas, journey maps, empathy maps, and opportunity frameworks.Map current-state and future-state user journeys and service blueprints across complex, multi-touchpoint processes.Design and document process flows and workflows that underpin our digital products, working closely with business analysts and subject matter experts.Define information architecture: site maps, navigation structures, content hierarchies, and task flows.Create wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes to communicate structure, flow, and interaction logic (not visual design).Plan and facilitate usability testing sessions; analyze results and translate findings into concrete recommendations.Work with user analytics tools (PostHog or equivalent) to identify behavioral patterns, drop-off points, and opportunities for improvement.Facilitate design workshops, co-creation sessions, and stakeholder alignment meetings.Collaborate closely with UI Designers to hand off clear, well-documented UX specifications that inform visual design.Present research findings and design rationale clearly to product owners, engineering teams, and business stakeholders. What You’ll Bring:Experience conducting qualitative user research (interviews, contextual inquiry, usability testing) in a professional product environment.Strong skills in journey mapping, service design, and process modelling.Ability to structure and communicate complex information clearly — through diagrams, flows, and written documentation.Experience with information architecture and content strategy for enterprise or B2B digital products.Working knowledge of wireframing tools (Figma, Miro, or equivalent) for low-fidelity prototyping.Familiarity with user analytics platforms (PostHog, Hotjar, Google Analytics, or similar) and data-informed UX approaches.Excellent facilitation and communication skills — comfortable running workshops, presenting to stakeholders, and advocating for the user.Collaborative mindset; you work well with UI Designers, developers, product managers, and business stakeholders.Curiosity about complex business domains — willingness to deeply understand the logistics and shipping world.Must Have Skills:5+ years of professional experience in UX Design, UX Research, or Service Design.Portfolio or case studies demonstrating end-to-end UX process: research , synthesis , design , validation.Proven experience planning and conducting user interviews and usability tests.Proficiency in journey mapping and process design tools (Miro, FigJam, Figma, or equivalent).Strong written and verbal communication skills.Nice to Have Skills:Experience with service design at an organizational level (blueprints, backstage processes). Background in or exposure to logistics, shipping, or supply chain domains.Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design principles.Experience with quantitative research methods (surveys, A/B testing, statistical analysis).Knowledge of design ops practices and research repositories.
