This is a hands-on, cross-cutting role spanning Azure infrastructure, Databricks, Power BI, Azure SQL Server and Azure DevOps — ensuring our platform is reliable, secure, performant and cost-effective.You will serve as a technical lead for the data engineering team, setting standards for how we build and operate data pipelines while also being hands-on in building them yourself. As we invest in AI and GenAI capabilities — from Databricks Genie to broader AI-driven analytics — the data platform becomes increasingly critical. Well-modelled, well-governed data is the foundation that makes these initiatives possible, and you will play a central role in ensuring that foundation is solid.At Stolt-Nielsen, we take Digital seriously. As we are further building up our engineering practice, there is ample room for you to contribute, take initiative and shape the future of our ways of working and technology landscape.What You’ll Do:Administer and monitor Azure Databricks, Power BI and Azure SQL Server environments Design, develop and maintain data pipelines in Databricks using PySpark and Delta Lake Build ETL/ELT processes to ingest data from multiple sources Provide technical leadership to the data engineering team, setting standards for pipeline development, code quality and best practices Manage and troubleshoot Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for data platform deployments Implement and maintain security, governance and access control across all platform components Monitor platform health, cost and performance, proactively resolving issues before they impact users Maintain documentation of platform architecture, standards and runbooksWhat You’ll Bring:Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field 8+ years of experience in data engineering, platform administration or data infrastructure Strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks, including PySpark, Delta Lake and Unity Catalog Strong proficiency in Python and SQL Experience with Azure SQL Server and Power BI service administration Experience with Azure DevOps pipelines and Azure resource management Good understanding of data modelling, warehousing concepts and medallion architecture Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code and version control (Git) Proven ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to engineering teams Effective communication skills and ability to work across teamsMust Have Skills:Databricks (PySpark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows)Azure platform administrationAzure SQL ServerPython/ Pyspark and SQLPower BI service administrationAzure DevOps CI/CD PipelinesUnity CatalogIACGen AINice to have Skills:Experience with Azure Landing Zones and Cloud Adoption FrameworkKnowledge of data governance and cataloguing (Unity Catalog, Purview)Experience with Databricks cost optimizationTeam leading experience/ MentoringUnderstanding of networking concepts relevant to cloud and hybrid data platformsFamiliarity with Azure Policy and compliance toolingExperience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Bicep/ARM)Familiarity with AI/ML workflows and how they depend on well-structured data platforms
