Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations.Work closely with application teams and architects to design, implement and support database solutions that provide insights to make better decisionsDesign, administer, and support Oracle database platforms across development, test, and production environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability.Design, implement, and maintain database infrastructure including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, backup/restore strategies, disaster recovery, and security hardening.Perform advanced performance tuning and optimization, including SQL tuning, AWR/ASH analysis, optimizer statistics management, indexing strategies, and wait event diagnostics. Design, Implement and manage Oracle HA/DR solutions such as RAC, Data Guard, Goldengate, ASM, RMAN, and Cluster ware, ensuring resilient and fault tolerant architectures.Collaborate with application teams to design efficient database schemas, data models, and integration patterns that support scalable and resilient systems.Automate operational tasks using Shell scripting, PL/SQL, Python, or Ansible to improve consistency, reliability, and operational efficiency.Support and execute Oracle database migrations to cloud platforms, including assessment, planning, data movement, cutover, and validation.Enforce security via Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), Database Vault, and Key Vault.Manage and optimize cloud database resources, including sizing, scaling, performance configuration, cost management, backup/restore policies, and security controls for Azure/AWS database deploymentsImplement cloud based high availability and disaster recovery architectures, such as zone redundant deployments, geo replication, and automated failover strategies.Automate routine DBA tasks to improve consistency, reliability, and operational efficiency.Monitor database health and capacity using OEM, AWR, ASH, and enterprise monitoring tools; proactively identify and resolve issues related to performance, storage, availability, and security. Ensure compliance with data governance, auditing, encryption, and security standards; participate in vulnerability remediation and risk mitigation.Participate in on call rotation and provide support for complex database incidents, root?cause analysis, and long?term remediation.Contribute to the development of DBA standards, best practices, documentation, and operational runbooks.Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross functional teams to elevate database engineering maturity and operational excellence.ALL YOU’LL NEED FOR SUCCESS:Minimum Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience:Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).10+ years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA, supporting mission critical, high availability environments.Strong expertise with Oracle including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, backup/restore, performance tuning, indexing strategies, query optimization, and security hardening.5+ years of experience with high availability and disaster recovery technologies. 3+ years of experience with cloud database platforms (OCI, Azure, AWS2+ years of experience with automation and scripting.Preferred Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience:3+ years managing SQL Server, PostgreSQL or MySQL database platform supporting large-scale applications or data engineering solutions2+ years' experience with CI/CD automation for database code deployments using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps2+ years' experience with enterprise monitoring tools 1+ years' experience with IaC tools for cloud database infrastructureAirline Industry ExperienceSkills, Licenses, and Certifications:Expertise with the Azure Technology stack for data management, data ingestion, capture, processing, curation and creating consumption layersExpertise in providing practical direction within the Azure Native cloud servicesAzure Certification (preferred)Combination of Development, Administration & Support experience in several of the following tools/platforms requiredScripting: Python, Bash, SQL, PLSQLData Platforms: SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake, Redis Cache, Teradata, MongoDBLANGUAGE / COMMUNICATION SKILLS:Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all levels within the organizationPhysical ability necessary to safely and successfully perform the essential functions of the position, with or without any legally required reasonable accommodations that do not pose an undue hardship.
