A key part of this ambition is the growth of its Business Intelligence Consulting Team and this has created an exciting opportunity for a dedicated, ambitious, and analytical BI consultant.You’ll be a key member of a proactive team, delivering customer funded consultancy for reporting and management information on our ResourceLink solution, as well as a variety of other systems. The work ranges from the development of operational reports, data transformation and modelling, dashboard/visualisation design, event driven notifications, involvement in the build of predictive analytics models and conversion of reports from existing platforms to our Zellis HCM cloud solution.Our customers use a variety of Business Intelligence technologies including Zellis’ integrated reporting tools (Resourcelink Reporting Services (RRS) and Microsoft Power BI) as well as IBM Cognos Analytics or SAP Business Objects (BO) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). This role will have focus on, building complex SQL queries for preparing transformed analytical datasets and designing sophisticated reports/dashboards/visualisations/alerts, through to the unit testing and handover.Key success measures for the role will include delivering chargeable consultancy. You’ll be a strong communicator working closely with our UK team to deliver Customer BI requirements, HR/payroll analytics and translate requirements into insightful solutions. This will be achieved using a rich mix of BI skills including but not limited to, complex SQL queries, ETL development, report creation, amending data models for ad-hoc queries, building insights and KPIs into self-service PowerBI dashboards and producing business alerts and notifications.Essential knowledge / skills / behaviour:A proven track record in BI consultancy/reporting role using data query and reporting/analysis tools.Extensive experience at building complex SQL queries (e.g. CTEs, sub queries, pivot queries etc) using a SQL development/BI tool against Microsoft SQL Server and/or OracleCan demonstrate how these SQL skills are used in manipulating and cleansing data for the purposes of reporting and analysisExperience in Workday Studio Integration and API Integration.Knowledge of SQL profiling and analysing query execution plans to help optimise queries.Strong analytical capability with an inclination for problem solvingExcellent communication skills particularly written and verbal in EnglishExcellent teamwork skillsHighly cooperative and yet self-sufficientThe ability to work well with others as well as independentlyAction oriented and collaborative team playerSelf-motivated, proactive, accountable with continuous learning approach; willing to learn and understand evolving technologies.Ability to multitask in an ambiguous environment.A high level of attention to detailHave a reputation for honesty and accuracy that reinforces the sense of urgency that must be conveyed.Role Accountabilities and responsibilities:Prepare complex SQL queries to extract data from complex operational databases and transform into analytical datasetsBuild extract, transform and load (ETL) data flows to transform source data into simplified, tailored data entities designed for building analytics and visualisations in Power BIConvert complex SQL queries and CTEs from Oracle PSQL into Microsoft SQL Server TSQLPerformance tune SQL queries and reportsBuild bespoke PowerBI datasets and dashboards to technical specificationsWrite SQL queries for BAM alerts/business driven notificationsBuild operational reports, crosstabs, drill through reports, visualisations and operational dashboards to technical specification using Jasper Studio, RRS adhoc, Microsoft Power BI, IBM Cognos or SAP BO.Amend and update RRS domains (data models) to add in additional table/column entities.Build and amend RRS topics and adhoc views to build reports in RRS adhocWrite and update technical BI report specifications, report trackers and issue logsCarry out unit testing of new and amended BI content before release to customersTroubleshoot allocated support queries assigned to the BI Team’s SNOW queues.
