Our approach integrates IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) philosophy with inquiry-based learning, Japanese principles of responsibility, and Nordic emotional safety to develop internationally minded, confident, and reflective learners. Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for an IB PYP Homeroom Teacher/Facilitator based in Sector 69, Mohali. The teacher will act as a learning facilitator, guiding students through transdisciplinary Units of Inquiry that connect concepts across subject areas to real-world contexts. You will create an inquiry-rich, student-centered classroom where children ask questions, explore ideas, and construct their own understanding through hands-on experiences. Key Responsibilities: Facilitate Inquiry-Based Learning: Design and implement transdisciplinary Units of Inquiry aligned with the IB PYP framework, encouraging student agency and conceptual understanding Guide, Don't Lecture: Act as a facilitator who provokes thinking, supports exploration, and scaffolds learning—rather than delivering traditional lectures Foster the IB Learner Profile: Develop inquirers, thinkers, communicators, risk-takers, knowledgeable, principled, caring, open-minded, balanced, and reflective students Create Student-Centered Environments: Maintain flexible, engaging learning spaces that support collaboration, independence, and inquiry at a 1:8 teacher-student ratio Assess for Learning: Use ongoing formative and summative assessments including observations, portfolios, self-reflection, and exhibitions—not traditional exams Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with specialist teachers, the PYP Coordinator, and the in-house child psychologist to support holistic student development Engage Parents as Partners: Communicate regularly with families about student learning journeys, the PYP framework, and how to support inquiry at home Reflect and Grow Professionally: Participate in collaborative planning, IB professional development workshops, and reflective practice to continuously improve teaching Nurture Agency and Voice: Encourage students to take ownership of their learning, make choices, and develop their unique interests within the framework of inquiry Qualifications Essential: Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (Master's preferred) Minimum 1 year of IB PYP teaching experience or demonstrated understanding of inquiry-based, constructivist pedagogy Deep understanding of the IB PYP framework: transdisciplinary themes, Units of Inquiry, concepts, learner profile, approaches to learning (ATL) Strong English language proficiency (written and spoken) for effective communication and documentation Facilitator mindset: Ability to guide student inquiry rather than rely on direct instruction or lecture-based teaching Experience with authentic assessment practices: observations, learning portfolios, student-led conferences, exhibitions Commitment to differentiating instruction to meet diverse learner needs and support inclusion Highly Desirable: IB PYP Category 1, 2, or 3 certification (or willingness to complete) Experience planning and delivering transdisciplinary Units of Inquiry that integrate multiple subject areas Understanding of concepts-driven curriculum (form, function, causation, change, connection, perspective, responsibility, reflection) Familiarity with student agency and voice in the learning process Knowledge of approaches to learning (ATL) skills: thinking, communication, social, self-management, research Experience facilitating PYP Exhibition or other student-led inquiry showcases Strong collaborative and reflective practice skills Passion for nurturing internationally minded, compassionate, lifelong learners What We Offer Fully sponsored official IB PYP training and certification Founding team opportunities with leadership growth as the school scales Collaborative, mission-driven culture with small class sizes (1:8 ratio) Quality of life in Chandigarh Tricity—lower cost of living, clean air, proximity to mountains
